You are on the right track. As long as they fall off by themselves. Wash it 2 to 3 times a day with mild soap, and put FRAGRANCE FREE lotion on it often.

It's completely normal for the tattoo to go through this "peeling process". All you can do is wait for the top layer of your skin over the tattoo to fall off, and the tattoo should look exactly as it did initially after it was done. However, you should probably not be using a moisturizing cream, if I understood you correctly. Moisturizers don't allow enough oxygen to penetrate the tattooed skin, and often it takes longer to heal or there is more risk for infection. Instead of a moisturizer, use a thin layer of A&D Cream (sold at CVS, Walmart, etc.) about three times a day after you wash it, especially within the first few weeks of getting the tattoo. Not only does it numb the area, but is preventative of possible infection.

If aquaphor is an ointment you should only be using that until the scabs start to fall off. You can moisturize with products like Luberderm or Curel (unscented). Apply a light layer of one of those at least once a day. Tattoos take about 4-6 weeks to heal.

Find some Tattoo Goo, it's the best I've seen for tattoo healing. Never wash your new tattoo with a cloth and don't let it stay wet very long. The ointment should only be put on in minimal amounts, just enough to keep it moist, if it has a shine to it, blot it off with a clean towel.
If you've hurt your tattoo in the shower, there's nothing you can do to save what you've already done.

The scabs are supposed to fall off. That's what happens as your tattoo heals. Do NOT pick them off or scratch at it!! And be gentle washing it in the shower until it's completely healed. Putting on a lot of moisturizer isn't really going to hurt it, but there's no need for a ton of it. Whenever it gets dry or itchy, rub some on!

Well, the scabs are supposed to fall off. A good rule that my tattoo artist told me was to put a very thin layer of moisturizer on the tattoo whenever it was uncomfortably dry, because you do want to moisturize it enough, so whenever you feel that it is dry put moisturizer just a very small amount. Good luck!

i don't know what kind of cream you're using, but at this point you should only be using a fragrance-free, glycerin based lotion like lubriderm. apply it often, especially when it starts to itch. however, don't apply it as a layer... completely massage it into your skin. also, make sure you're not using anything other than your soapy hand to wash it.
