I'd suggest that you have a look at a rather different "take" on the whole question of "do we choose this life?" by having a look at a book called "The Famished Road" by the Nigerian author, Ben Okri. it's fascinating what they believe!

As far a choice goes, well...we have the ability to choose to invite good or bad into our lives at every step of the way! That's what I understand Free Will to be about! An example: I'm copping heaps from one of the women at my work at the moment. I could choose to rebel against the crap that she's throwing at me, but that would only make my life a bad thing. I have chosen to show her respect, love and compassion. This is because if I do these good things, I will be showing her that I do not accept that she is making my life miserable because I do not want that misery! The effects of this, I hope, will be that she begins to show me the same respect, love and compassion. Even if she doesn't "get" where I'm coming from, my life will be made better by MY adoption of "right actions".

same with the leaders that we have. You could easily say that GWB isn't the best, but that's because there are a lot of people who are less than well educated and can't see that we have a choice in this. I'm an Australian and I count myself incredibly lucky to have the choice to vote Green. This, to my way of thinking, is choosing something that is Good in many respects. Okay, the Green party isn't perfect, but they're a heck of a lot better than who's in control at the moment!!!

If we all recognised that we choose good or bad, I reckon we'd all choose good and paradise would be ours.

Hope this helps!

Love and Light,

Jarrah

We don't choose this life, we are just born. There is no afterlife and no prelife, just life.

Don't get so mystical about it.

We choose things to happen because we are sold evil under the name of good. Society as a whole is good, but when leaders like Bush say to us we must fight and kill and murder people in a foriegn country they believe him and go along with it. but to do this without a reason would be horribly wrong, so Bush and his administration make doing evil sound like we are doing good.

We need more Ghandis in this world and the world would be so much a better place to live in.

If you believe in reincarnation, and that we choose which life we wish to lead next, I believe that we only choose the lesson, not the specifics; that would be saying that everything is down to fate and destiny and that we have no control over our lives, which we do.

One of the 'New Age' errors.
Choosing a life is actually a very advanced thing to be able to do.
Most of us are drawn in to a particular life by the power of our own Karma.
In order to be free of the past, take care of your actions in the present.

Growth.

Growth as an individual, growth as community and growth of the human race.

If everything was great all the time, we wouldn't need to be human anyway.

"We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience."

You choose the circumstances where you will learn the most. Unfortunately, humans don't learn from pleasant experiences, they learn from strife.
