1. The Bible is kind-of boring at first, but the more you read it, and feel God's Word and live it and see it in your life, you begin to hunger for it...kind-of hard to explain.
2. You assert the Bible is a story, but we have more reason to trust it's historical and scientific accuracy and preservation than we do for many other widely accepted documents from which we derive most of what we know about history. Archeology supports it, the scientific fore-knowledge of the Bible combined with fulfilled prophecy, the Gospels dating to within a few decades of Jesus' death, why should they be held as un-reliable? Please tell me...

It's Spiritually written, and Spiritually discerned.
You need God's Holy Spirit within you to really appreciate it.
It is so much more than stories.. don't miss out!

Try the New Century Version. It's an interesting read. Not the psalms or the proverbs, or leviticus, but the rest is.

I disagree with the thing about it being make believe, but more than likely your unable to either understand or relate with what your reading.
the same thing happened to me when I started. however it is easier as you learn more.
You should probably try by starting with one of the shorter books of the bible.

Well, you answered the question yourself.
You're not interested in it and therefore you grow bored of it. If you were a spiritually alive Christian, you wouldn't be bored because you'd be learning new things everytime you read it.
