No, an individual can't do this. Rescoring is something that some mortgage brokers do for a fee to help his customers qualify for a mortgage.

You can contact the credit bureaus and dispute any item showing on your report, not the scoring itself. They must then contact the reporting company who then have a certain amount of time to respond (generally 30 days) whether the item is valid or not. If it is not valid, or if the company does not respond, the item is removed. That will cause your credit score to change.

No but you can add notes and contest things on your individual reports that are inaccurate.

Your score can change in a matter of days if you undertake some strategies to improve it. Check the agency websites for tips:
Experian
Transunion
I forget the name of the third.

they are right - only if there is an error. You can report the errors to the companies. (they will give you the address when you check your credit at the basic 3). Send them a certified letter (so you can prove that you sent it) stating exactly what the problem is with what they have on there.

If it is right what they have on there, you are stuck and you need to pay off your bills to get your credit score better.

If there is an error in your credit report, yes. Otherwise the only way to improve your credit score is to improve your credit.
