I don't quite understand your question, but a merlot IS a red wine, specifically a red wine from Bordeaux and made from the merlot grape. A true champagne is a sparkling wine made in the Champagne region of France where only the Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and the white Chardonnay grape are allowed to grow.

You seem a little confused. Merlot is a variety of red grape used to make wine that bears the same name. Champagne is a white sparkling (carbonated) wine made exclusively from white grapes.
