it came to a Draft here in the United States? Or do you think those who are for the war would change their mind knowing that maybe their OWN children and grandchildren would be at risk of being sent over to Iraq to fight?

To answer your question; If there was a draft a lot of people who are for the war would change their minds.

You are brave and wise to ask this confronting question.

I really don't think that the Iraqis threaten Americas' way of life. Where on Earth do some of your respondents get that notion!? Iraq was never a threat to America.
If this were a war to protect America against aggressors then I think most of the world would be behind them without question. It's amazing that so many Americans are angry at many countries for not backing them more whole-heartedly but they have to understand that, whether they are for or against this war, it IS an illegal war and most countries prefer NOT to fight a war based on lies and manufactured fear.
The Bush administration made up stories about any threat Iraq posed – this is now documented and admitted fact – the reasons to go to war with Iraq were FALSE.
Naturally people will vote this down or angrily deny this but there is no lie or half truth in what I've said here. Most Americans that are for the war will never admit that it is a war to protect American interests in the region and that is ALL that it is.

I'm a Marine Wife and I support this war. First of all, we are fighting terrorism in the world. not just Iraq. I'm tired of all these "anti-war" people and their negativity. So many good things have came about because of our countries ability to stand up and fight for what is good. Women and girls in Iraq can now vote and go to school. How amazing is that? Women actually have a status now. There is punishment for raping them, when there was none a few years ago. That is a huge step for that kind of country run by Hussein. My husband and brother have both been in Iraq and ya, I don't want them to go back, but the fact is, they both joined AFTER 9/11. They knew they were going over when they enlisted. Everyone who enlisted after that tragic day knew they would go over some time or another. They are fighting now so that in 10 years we aren't having to fight them again. Bush wants to get rid of them now. We pulled out from desert storm and now 10 years later we are fighting the same country again. My husband believes in serving his country and that includes protecting our children. I'm sick and tired of people not respecting the guys who are willing to stand up and fight when the cowards out there are the ones opposing them. My husbands brothers in arms are not dying in vain. They are dying so that 9/11 doesn't happen again. You should be thanking them for your 1st amendment right to speak against what they stand for. Try being more grateful, so your children don't have to fight later on.

P.S. I have met Bush and after meeting him, I support him more now than ever. I looked that man square in the eye and it was so genuine. He's not a bad guy, despite what you all might think.

The Republicans are against the draft. The only thing the draft would do would put more left wing in the military and F it up from within. We do not want that. This draft thing is all the talk of one ignorant democrat who apparently failed at raising his children and thinks the military is a good place to teach them what he failed to do.

The Military is made up of over 75%-80% conservatives, so they do believe in serving their country.

I support our president & our troops. Do I want to see them come home in a flag draped coffin -NO! Is this a part of war -Yes! Would I go -YES! Husband served as well as numerous other family members. Freedom is not free, those who choose to serve this country do so knowing that there is always a possablity they may never return home. Many have died to give us the freedom & safety we enjoy today & many more will scarfice. The alternative is not acceptable.

Very few Democrats ever serve in the military.
Few volunteer.
Democrats flee to Canada and Sweden to avoid the draft.
Only the Democrat Politicians are wanting a draft.

My husband has been sent to fight. I am for the war. I wish it were being conducted differently, but I support it in principle. I agree with the notion of giving Bush's surge a chance to work.

You must be fairly young, are your teachers liberal in thinking? Ask yourself if the life you are living, and your future and Country are important to you? Do you love your family? Are you willing to fight for what you now have and any future you or yor family may have. We are fighting not only islamic fasists, but also a religion based war. Ask your self....if someone came up to you and said renounce your religion or I will kill you, what would you answer? Are you willing to give up everything you believe in not to die? or are you willing to fight and maybe die for you beliefs? You decide!!!
