The Bible clearly states:
"I HAVE GIVEN YOU ALL THE SEED BEARING PLANTS ON EARTH TO USE"
Marijuana and poppies ie opiates are theoretically complelty acceptable to christians.

The bible doesn't talk about specific drugs like tobacco or illegal substances. It talks about what drugs there were and they came from nature and their uses were known. They used the plants that later provided the drugs we use today The bible does mention alcohol because the effects of over-indulgence were well known early in history. I should think from the first time man decided to let his fruit juice ferment. What the bible does talk about is Over-indulgence. It says in several places that the use of a substance to the point of intoxication is wrong. Or that's how I interpret it. We now know the effects of some drugs and their side effects too. Yet still people over indulge in their use or are prescribed high doses of them in another form! you don't need the bible nowadays to tell you the effects of over-indulgence you only have to switch on your TV. All are drugs! All are intoxicating or detrimental to our health if used in excess or by the wrong person! Its the amount you use and the reasons behind the usage that defines whether it is sinful or not in the eyes of someones God.

The Bible never mentions drugs or tobacco. Alcohol is mentioned many times. Oddly enough, Jesus drank alcohol (it was better to drink than any water back then due to lack of distilling processes) on many occasions and yet people say it's sinful. So then Jesus therefore would have sinned by drinking by that logic.

Alcohol was inbedded in our culture before the greek civilization. It has religious importance. Tobacco also has great importance to native AMericans, and got imbedded in Western culture quickly after discovery. We didn't know how bad it was. Marijuana was developed over time but Western culture recognize it as being bad and didn't take hold in western culture until the 70's it's hard to ween us out of the bad habits of alcohol and cigarettes, we have a chance to prevent it from hurting our civilization like Opium has done in asia.

Tobacco was never used in Europe or the Middle East until the 16th century, the Bible does not mention it.
Drugs were not illegal in the days of the Bible, they were criminalised in the last few centuries.
Alcohol is often mentioned in the Bible. The book of Leviticus mentions it.

Tobacco wasn't in vogue then as Walter Raleigh hadn't promoted it. Illegal drugs don't feature either. But Jesus made a mean bottle of wine by swilling out some porous pots that had contained wine

I do not believe personally that the Bible is a reference to life in terms of a rule book. There are no clear mentions of any of these things. u will almost certainly find someone who will come up with something that looks right....to them.
Sin as I understand it is anything which ultimately hurts the individual concerned. This is in perfect harmony with my fundamental belief in the Father Heart of God. Like any loving, caring father, God does not want to see any of His children get hurt or to turn away from Him.
He is a jealous God, He desires love in the same way that most of us do and wants to be loved as He loves.
Many Christians disagree with smoking for the wrong reasons. They feel it is naughty. I feel it is harmful to the individual but in terms of hurting others, other than secondary smoking, it doesn't.
I suppose the only reference I can think of is "The wages of sin is death".
An unbeliever would immediately say..there u r, God has threatened to kill us.
Those with wisdom who understand the nature of the Father Heart of God will know that it is a warning with solid purpose. God has plans to prosper, not to harm.
I suppose the punch line is that the more sensible u r, the better will be ur quality of life. Almost anything in excess or that is harmful to the body is likely to cause damage or death.
I hope that helps a little.

You will only find out about wine...it says a"Be not drunk with wine"......and "have a little wine for your stomach's sake". It never says you can't drink any....Jesus changed the water into wine....but it does say "don't get drunk"....God expects us to be responsible with our behavior...also it says don't do anything that will offend
someone else.
As for tobacco and illegal drugs ...they are just common sense
...not specifically mentioned in the bible....There are many places where God said to take care of your body because He created it
and to be concerned for your health.
People tend to get a little overboard in being critical about what they think might not be good for you. They also set up "fences"....of don't do this or that...trying to keep you out of more trouble. You have to use your own best judgement.

if you read the bible like the jobo witnesses do. taking things out of context then there is lots of things in there . however I'm sure somewhere it says that your body belongs to god, and we are only looking after it and should take the best care of it. in which case there would be nothing in the good book about grass cos only Muppet's with no life use it. so i doubt that it would be put in the good book as in them days they wouldn't of used it. as Jesus said in one of the chapters don't let the long hair fool you I'm not a low life chicken head ,I have a purpose to be on earth amen
