My friend and I are debating .. he say shorty can be used to refer to boyfriends and girlfriend as title or term of endearment I say it can only be used to describe a female?

I think it is met for short people,female or male. I have a Friend we call him Peewee that's his nickname. It is not negative because real tall people are sometimes called big mother watch your mouth!

i suppose it can be used for both male and female but it's generally used only towards females as a term of endearment like you said

I honestly didn't know it had a slang meaning, but I think I have heard something about that, now that you mention. And as I recall my understanding is that it's about a girlfriend.

(My username is based on a nickname my brother gave me, which is a reference to my relatively small stature in comparison to his.)

the grown-up term is I am seeing someone I am dating someone that is pretty much it then there is: my girlfriend/boyfriend fiance husband/wife spouse partner (that is more along the gay terms though) lover special friend friend with benefits my other half my better half my soul mate

i don't wanna be referred to as "shorty" especially when I'm the girlfriend.
why?
because...I'm his girlfriend and he calls me shorty? feels like I'm just the flavor of the month.

just my opinion...=)

I suppose when a girl and her guy are getting ready to make love and they are both nude, she could call him "shorty".
