Science Diet is a poor/low quality food that is over rated.
You can see some better quality foods listed at dogaware.com as well as learn how to choose a better quality food and other dog food information.
What do you feed currently?

Science diet was originally a great product, unfortunately it's not any more. If you check the first ingredient on the list (of any dog food) it should be something you want your dog to eat. Science diet is mostly filler. Dogs eat a lot of it, because they are still hungry when they do. It also has a tendency to make them a little bloated.

Science Diet is a high priced low quality food. It contains way to much cheap fillers & by products and some of it contains dyes and chemical preservatives.
Dogs are carnivores..they are meant to extract proper nutrition from meats not grains..they are meat eaters not grain eaters.
It takes up to 3 times more of a grain based food for a dog to obtain proper nutrition as it does for a good quality meat based food.

Science diet is good dog food I guess but i always preferred Natures choice or Eukanuba. They kept my golden healthy and happy. I would suggest asking your vet about what food to buy. Also you can do trial periods, it took 3 or 4 foods before I found the right kind for my dogs. Every dog is different.

I feed only Science Diet to my cats. The vet clinic I work at feeds only Science Diet to boarders and rescues (unless they have other needs). I have completed my Veterinary Nutritional Advocate program from Hills (the company that makes SD) and recommend it to anyone who asks. The program covers all the diets (even prescription diets) in detail. The diets are better formulated for the animals. There are less "fillers" so the animal has less stool volume, the food tastes better. Many people think it is more expensive, but you actually feed less because it takes a smaller amount to make the pet feel full.

While i don't think Science Diet is the BEST food, i have never seen any problems come from it. My veterinarian has fed ALL of her cats science diet, and they have ALL lived to be over 20 years old. Their coat was not as soft and shiny as some other cats on better food, but they were still healthy. I do not think it is a bad food. I have never seen any problems from it.

I reccommend Alfo for big dogs, and the smaller ones Biggle Grits, the healthiest food for dogs. Science Diet was a RIOT in the 90;s but I think the President of the company changed since then.

I don't exactly think it is all that good at all. My vet seems to like Innova better. It is a healthy brand and it has fresh apples and other fruits in it as well as the meat.

I fed my Rottweiler Science Diet and he LOVED it! Lots of people say it is a bad dog food and that vets just indorse it because they get paid. Well, even if that is the case, my dog loved it.

I think that Science Diet is great. I know it is more expensive but dogs seem to like it alot better. I know it must taste better. And it is better for them. I use it.
