Jesus was not a catholic, evangelist, baptist, or any other relgion that is heard of, he wasn't even a christian. The word is only mentioned in the bible 2 times. He was simply christ.
Some will say that he was Jewish. This is true. Jew is not a religion. Jesus was born an Isrealite out of the tribe of Judah. The RELIGIOUS leaders were responsible for Jesus being crucified. And if you claim to be religious you are in the same category as those that killed him.
I Just want to know why so many are hung up on religion, When Jesus said nothing about being a certain religion, all he mentioned was to take up your cross and follow Him.
Jam 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, [and] to keep himself unspotted from the world.

I wish more people felt like you did. I just consider myself a child of God and a follower of Jesus...a Christian.
May God Bless you.

Faith is a contract, if someone handed you a contract concerning your house you would be damn sure to read it...that is why I don't understand why when a religion hands people a contract concerning their salvation they accept whatever they are told, NEVER READ THE BIBLE and sign on the dotted line. I don't have a religion. In my family there is Jewish, Muslim, christian, catholic, Buddhist...you name it, we've got it. My religion is my God. How do I practice it...I read the bible...aka the idiots guide to salvation. And trust me, when it comes to salvation, we're all idiots. Jesus never said that you needed a religion, he just said "he who believeth in me shall not perish but have everlasting life", but then again, maybe I missed the part where he said "He who believeth in me must only do so through the Jewish, christian, Mormon...faith". Jew is NOT A RELIGION...it is supposed to be a classification of a people in distinction to other groups of people. Religion, to me, is just another reason for people to hate each other.
READ YOUR CONTRACT...THEN YOU'LL GET IT!!!

people choose religion because they want a way of life they want to seem wiser in others' eyes. however being a true christian is not a religion its a relationship with God. And yes the Pharisees were so caught up in religion that they killed their messiah. Great job on ur research.

The main reason is that only one can be right. Give it some thought. Jesus was Jew. Most religions that seem to be Christian are not.

Because there is a Void inside of People that can only Be Filled with GOD.
If it Dosen't get Filled with GOD (Reality), it usually gets filled Up with something Else (Religion?).

People are 'hung up' on their religion, as it makes them feel better than everyone else (who does not believe what they do).
It plays to man's ego to believe that they are in some way superior to others who will (let's say) go to hell for not accepting Jesus as their savior.

because it's how people interpret the bible. someone might interpret something one way, but someone else might do it another way. this causes people to form religions based on their interpretations of what is the right thing to do, customs, and how to fulfill what is said in the bible.
