How can it possibly hurt anything? A dead person can not do anything to hurt anyone. So why would it be found detestable.

because the bible claims that the dead know nothing and that they lie in sleep until judgement
so if people communicate with anyone , then it isnt the dead but demons
and yes i am a medium speaking from experience of being told i speak with demons
and i have had nothing but beautiful experiences

Communicating with dead people is not necessarily the problem, it's the way you do it and what your purpose is. If you are doing it through witchcraft (wee gee board, seance, etc.) then you are in all reality communicating to and with demons. If you are simply thinking about a lost loved one and ask a question to the said loved one out of pure innocence, I do not believe that that is detestable.

It isn't real. And in the Bible the Lord says that we shall not perform acts that would make the Lord less of a being, and communicating with the dead is one way because it is witchcraft.

Because there are unseen intelligences that are up to no good, and you really don't know who you may be in contact with. You're inviting trouble into your life. I think God wishes that the dead remain at rest and are not to be disturbed, if it were possible.

probably for two reasons - a) the surrounding pagan cultures did it and b) it shows lack of trust in G-d. but immediately after forbidding practices like communion with the dead and using oracles, etc, G-d reassures us and says "don't worry, i won't leave you entirely alone, i will send prophets to guide you."

Fear of the unknown or maybe a dead person would reveal all of the flaws of god that we have not seen from on that side.
