i have extremely straight hair!! im not allowed to get a perm..even though i really want one. b/c my mom says that i'll regret it and it will dry out my hair or soemthing. I've tried to use hot sticks, scrunching, and hot rollers but none of them work!!! my hair will not hold a curl very well. i can't put curlers in my hair because my hair is so fine and soft that they just slip right out of my hair! so i was wondering if there is anyone out there who has anyt suggestions for a new hairstyle for me? it can't be anything too hard, time consuming, or expensive because im only 13 and i can't go spend money on stuff like that because my mom won't let me. help?

Make "pin curls" or "rag curls". They are easy to do, you can even do them while your watching TV . They are also easy to sleep on and make very curly curls, unlike rollers. here are two sites that attempt to describe how to make them.I used to do them when I was younger and my hair was very very long. Try them!!

Put mousse in your hair when it is wet, then air dry or blow dry. Before you use a curling iron or hot rollers, spray a little bit of aerosol hairspray on the hair, let dry a second, then roll.
You don't say how long your hair is! I have the same kind of hair as you, and went through school worrying and fussing about it, thinking if I let it grow long, that would be best, but I ended up wearing pigtails, ponytails, hairbands and barrettes.
When I got to my late teens, I realized (thanks to a great hairdresser at a discount hair cutting place), that shorter was better for our very straight, fine hair. It's better to have it cut in layers, makes it look fuller, and my hairdresser uses a special razor cutter thing between the layers to puff up the hair a little bit more. Where you can have "fun" is on top - you can be as fussy or not, as you like. I like leaving it long enough to curl if I want, or use product to scrunch it up and spike it a bit, if I want, or just leave straight in bangs.
Hope some of these ideas help. Wish I had someone give me some better advice when I was your age, instead of me just slinking along with my straight, ucky hair. By the way, I'm an adult, but still just go to the discount haircutters (Ultracuts in Canada - I'm sure US and elsewhere has something similar), so it's a cheap haircut. They do just as well as a fancy salon.

depending on how thick your hair is, your only two options in life may be perming or simply being happy with your beautiful straight hair that so many people work hard to get. i'm native american and no amount of curling irons and hairspray would have much of an affect on my hair. i would spend hours curling and spraying my hair for special occasions, and it would look great for a total of about 45 mins. i've had a few perms in my life, and they worked great with no damage. your hair sounds like it's healthy since you say it's slippery. you might want to try and convince your mom to just let you get a body wave. if it still isn't an option, just copy some celebs with straight hairstyles. a couple examples that work are long with chunky layers, or a stacked a-line bob.

there is one other option... but, i STRONGLY advise against it. damaged hair is better at holding curls, and it won't slip out when styling. so, you could purposely damage your hair by using alcohol and heat.

Before puberty, I had ice blond straight hair. Well, now it's brown and curly, but that's beside the point. I LOVED to curl my hair, but I had the same problem as you.

1. At night, take a super-long shower, get throughly wet.
2. Put your hair in super-super-super tiny braids everywhere you want to curl, and all the way down to about 1/2 a cm of the end.
3. Sleep on your hair.
4. In 2 hours after you wake up (I'm assuming you sleep ten hours a night) take the braids out C-A-R-E-F-U-L-L-Y. DON NOT BRUSH YOUR HAIR. If it's super-nappy, (wich I doubt) rake it GENTLY with your fingers.

I used to want the same thing when I was little. What you can do is to braid your hair or have someone braid it for you in a few small braids when it's wet and then sleep on it...in the morning when you wake up take out your braids...and there you go..curly hair. :) Then you can use hair gel and scrunch.

get some hairspray and lightly mist your hair before curlin with
the iron--this will hold the curl.
or u could get a pack of bobby pins and kiss curl your whole
head wet and then spray hairspray, leave in overnite and u wake
up with a temporary perm.

well, i hadnt seen that youre 13....but theres this flat iron called CHI, and it curls too, and it works really really really REALLY well. ive seen at jcpennys. but it is pricey... :-/

SOOO what i would say is to get a really interesting haircut, so it takes away from your straight hair. get a layered haircut with side swept bangs or something. i always look online for pictures of celebs with cool hair and take that to my stylist. its worked so far!

If you take tiny tiny, sections they will curl and they will hold. I have stick straight hair also. This works awesome!
