Yes it does hurt, but not terribly. Have you had your ears pierced? It's like that - painful when they do it, then sore for a while afterwards.
It can take up to a full year for the piercing to heal and settle completely. Any reputable piercing salon will give you detailed instructions on how to care for the piercing and keep it clean so that it's less likely to get infected. Cheap jewelery that is not made from surgical-grade metal will be more likely to cause an infection.
I had mine done when I was 37, and I've had plenty of other things that hurt a whole lot more than this. Mine got infected only once - I worked some Neosporin into it and stuck a bandaid over the whole thing for a day or two, and it got better right away.

Yes, it hurts, but it's not excruciating. Make sure you go to someone who has experience doing it. When I got mine done, it hurt when they first did it, then stung for a while afterwards and didn't really hurt unless I moved it by a half hour later. You need to keep it clean, as it can get infected really easily. Go to Claire's and get a bottle of their disinfectant stuff for pierced ears and use that and clean it with a cotton swab several times a day. I made a habit of cleaning mine whenever I thought about it and had a minute. Then after about three weeks, I'd take it out and wipe over the post and ends with a cotton ball with neosporin on it and put it back in and move it around some.

I got my belly buttom pierced about a year ago, I'm 20, not fat. It didnt hurt too bad, but I was sooo scared that I actually passed out after the guy pierced it for a few seconds. Then I drank some water, sat for a while, and in about 10 minutes I was absolutely fine :) And mine never got infected. Good luck, dont be scared! You might wanna check out cool body jewerely at piercedfish.com, thats where I get my stuff.

I think it will look pretty and it only hurts for 2 seconds, its just a little prick and than th worst part is over. It is a little sore but after a week all soreness should go away, and no mine did not get infected at all i just followed there directions and cleaned it with iodine in the morning and at night. I got mine pierced too when i was 15, it was by b-day present and my parents went with me so they held my hand, just squeeze hard and u will be fine.

I got mine done about 2 years ago. It doesn't hurt too bad. It was hard for me to sleep on my stomach for the 1st week. Don't use peroxide or alcohol to clean it. Get the cleaning solution from whomever is piercing your belly button. And if your ears can't handle anything but "real" gold plan to invest in a real gold belly ring too.
Good Luck!
Oh! and it will look great this summer in your bikini!!!

Pierced is your preference, and you shouldn't care what other people will think about its appearance.
Jabbing a needle through your skin on your stomach will hurt. You do run a risk of infection, but it is not as likely as if it were from a tattoo. Keep it clean. Hydrogen peroxide.

I got mine TWICE!! Honestly, I think it was one of those things that you want soo badly that even if it does hurt you dont feel it cause your so excited to finally get it. Yes, of course to answer your question.. It does hurt... But my advise is "DONT WATCH WHAT HE DOES" *(he meaning the person piercing it for you...)Just close your eyes and KEEP IT CLEAN.. Make sure to not let it get infected...

It hurts at first, of course, and if you bump it while it's healing that'll hurt too. You definitely don't want to wear any pants that sit right at your belly button. As long as you wash it regularly with antibacterial soap, it shouldn't get infected.

Mine hurt but it didn't hurt for long. If the keep it clean and follow the instructions when you get it pierced then it shouldn't get infected.
