My non beliefs has never taken any effort, so I'd say no for me...

It takes the same amount of faith either way because there is no conclusive evidence to prove or disprove the existence of God. It takes a great deal of stupidity to be an atheist though. Atheists have nothing to gain by being atheists and since they have no evidence to support their claims that there is no God then they may as well be agnostics and just admit they don't know if God exists. Christians have something to gain by placing their faith in God if their beliefs turn out to be true but if Christians are wrong about the existence of God then they don't lose anything.

Faith is the belief in the unseen.
Atheists do not believe in anything! ( at least not the Holy Father and creator of all)
Faith is the substance of things hoped for...the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1
Atheists do not HOPE for Eternal life.
But without Faith it is impossible to please him, for he that cometh to GOD must believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of them which DILIGENTLY seek him.
Atheists are not Seeking for the Truth.

Atheists apparently do not have any faith in anything or anyone.

The Just shall live by FAITH.
Be thou Faithful until death and I will give thee a crown of Life.

If you had never heard of god, why would you believe in one?

Atheist is the ground state. It takes no faith at all to be an atheist.

It's like saying 'does it take more energy to climb a mountain or to stay at home on the couch watching tv', assuming for some reason that everyone on the couch has to be actively restraining themselves from running off and climbing that mountain. Well, I'm happy on the couch, thank you very much.

Christian. I'm an agnostic atheist. Doesn't require any faith! I agree with the first answer, it does take cajones! To be able to let go of the hopeless fairytales and face life is not as easy as it might seem to some Christians (who think that they take the long road).

Atheism means lack of belief in God and does not always require faith.

Let me reword this question so Christians might see it from our perspective:
Do you have to have more faith than a Pagan not to believe in Odin?

A Christian, of course. You don't have to have faith to have no belief in God

Christian, you don't have to have any faith whatsoever to be an atheist.

I think it takes more faith to be an atheist, because to deny the existence of God is very risky.

Christians believe in something that no one alive has ever seen, and if anyone did say they had seen it, they would be forced into the psychiatric hospital.

Atheists believe that no one has ever seen it (without hallucinating).

It seems to me that to believe in something that no one you know has ever seen requires more faith than to believe your own senses and reason, as atheists do.
