When you guys are responding to an atheist or non-christian poster, and you say "I'll pray for you", do you actually do it? Like do you ask god specifically to help "citrus punch"? How specific are you in these prayers?
Honestly just wondering.

yes, i actually do pray for them. i pray for them right there in my computer chair and i try to put them in my prayer journal. sometimes, i just pray for the "people on Yahoo answers". sometimes i get more specific if i remember :-)

If we have specifics we pray specifically. If we don't know the details we will pray for God's will in your life to be done. Prayer isn't just something we say we do- it is the greatest thing we can do! We go directly to God on your behalf! I will pray that you know how much God loves you and wants to hear from you!

I am as specific in my prayers as I can be for someone on-line. God knows who is asking the question even if I don't. If I say I'll pray for you, then I will and have.

Honestly, I've learned to never say that. It's often taken facetiously, and in the end causes people to use that as a reason to think me self-righteous or condescending. Supposedly, this generates the idea that only "bad people" or "deluded" people are prayed for, which is just not the case.
Otherwise, I would encourage a Christian to offer this only on the rare occasion that an atheist presents himself before a believer or a group of believers, and offer it only if they truly mean that. In fact, it is better to just do it, and not just offer a "promise" of "I'll pray for you."

After reading so many awful Christian post, I ask atheist to have compassion for Christians. I'm not joking. This post was also meant to provoke thoughtl to us as Christians. I found some of the posting by we Christians horrifying. In response, this is what I posted:

Don't think too unkindly of them though...if you were taught to believe that other human beings were going to burn and suffer horribly by the very god of love that you were raised on...somewhere inside, if you are normal human being, you'd have to begin to disassociate yourself and begin to dehumanize others, in order to continue believing in that kind of god...a god that will do the same to you, if you disagree. I think it's sad. They 'Jesus-Jihad" only because they feel they must. They can not see beyond their own fear.
Have compassion for them. They suffer so.
I'm a Christian (really), He's a Christian, She's a Christian, We're all Christians, Wouldn't you want to be a Christian too?

I don't name the people by their names, because honestly I can never remember their names. But I pray for all the people on here who needs praying for. I don't really need to name them one by one because God already knows who they are. When there is someone who needs extra prayer then I explain to God which person it is and I pray that God has mercy on their soul and that he deals with their heart so that they can give their life to him.

I would never state to someone that I would pray for them and not do it. I also pray for people i deal with, without ever telling them. I always pray that Gods will be done though and many people don't want that.

To only say I'll pray for you and not do it makes one a liar. Satan is the father of lies, not God. If I see someone that is truly looking for God and cannot seem to find Him, and I say I'll pray for them, I do it right then, and yes I use their user name. God knows of whom I speak. If it is a mocker of God, or an atheist that simply rejects God and Jesus Christ, I do not cast my pearls before swine, as it a useless gesture.

The lord knows your heart you dont gotta say lord i pray for cool dude 101 who posted about printers saturday at 6:20 p.m. eastern time in the life we are living now lol. You could say cool dude 101 if you plz but if you just say i pray for that man on the comp. the lord knows.

Lord, God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob reveal the truth of your word, grace love and mercy to citrus punch, you know who she is.
