I am moving and I want to know if Saskatoon is good for jobs and housing?

As a native Saskatonian I say yes, it's a fairly large center with a booming industry and a lot of job openings and housing as well as having an artsy side there are always plays or bands to go see, plenty of art galleries, we even have a zoo! Housing is very reasonable, we have one of the lowest costs of living in the country and it is FAR cheaper to insure a vehicle here than anywhere else I've seen in Canada. Hope you come and enjoy it!

I've been to Saskatoon several times. I really like the place and if I had a really good reason to live there I just might go. There's about 200,000 people living there. (So there's plenty of liquor stores!) It's situated on a river with a great park system throughout the river valley linking the university and downtown. The university is gorgeous! The town is a bit spread out, but if you find accomodations near U of S most of your trips could be by foot or bus. If you have pals across town though, a car would be helpful. I don't know about costs such as phone, but a friend owns a rental house there in a trendy part of town and she charges $800/month for rent. The summers are warm and dry and winters are cool and dry. There's a great music scene there - small but great. Live theatre, movie theatres, clubs, pubs, and a few great restaurants and a bunch of ok ones. The people are very warm and friendly, and very helpful. You'll have no problem making friends. Granted it's no TO, but overall for a prairie town it's very good.

if you like it hoter than hot in summer and colder than cold in winter and nothing to do but watch the grass grow then saskatoon is a great place

Very fine indeed. It won some sort of award for "livability" a few years ago.
