It would depend on the circumstances...I very well might. I never know what I will do in extreme emergencies. You hear of people throwing themselves on a hand granade out of reflex and you also hear of people just standing there and putting their hands on their ears. I don't know what I would do..I wouldn't mind sacrificing my life for the right cause or reason but I wouldn't want to sacrifice my life just for money, politics and fruitless war.
I think I most certainly would push a child out of the way of a car and be hit myself if that circumstance ever happened and it wouldn't matter which kid either...the child would have to be a living, breathing and independent life form and not a fetus. I don't believe life begins until the child breathes on its own.
I would sacrifice my organs for another person but I would have to know the circumstances. I'm willing to sacrifice quite a bit for the good of the whole because I understand you can't sink half a boat...if the boat sinks, the entire boat sinks and not just "your" half. I'll do what I can to keep planet earth afloat.

What a terrible question. It makes me think far too much.
Logically I have to say that yes I would if I considered that their life would have greater value than mine to society as a whole. I probably wouldn't willingly die to save a politicians life but for a person of real value to society I probably would.
Emotionally it is harder to reach a conclusion because I quite like living. I have actually gotten quite good at it over the years and do not particularly want to stop.
A much easier question would be whether I am willing to risk death to give someone else a chance to live. Lots of us have done this. Soldiers, firemen, police or just plain citizens do it every day but in this case it is only risking death rather than the certainty your question looks for. When risking your life you weigh the probability of success against the possibility of death and act on that comparison. When it does happen it is often afterwards that you can see that no personal benefit was involved, only personal risk against benefit to others.

yes, because i know for sure that i'll go to heaven when i die, and what if the other person has not accepted forgiveness for his/her sins and isn't ready to die. God layed down His life for us, and we should be willing to show the same kind of love to everyone.
this is a hard question though, because no one knows for sure what they would do in a situation like this until they are put in one. i pray that i would give my life for the other person.
have you seen the movie "End of the Spear"? it's a GREAT movie about missionaries that gave their lives for native indians that murdered them and they didn't even know.

I would have to know more about the other person but, as an atheist, I can see situations where I would give up my life for someone else.
It's too bad that Christians would consider this suicide (except, of course, for Jesus).

I think I'd only do such a thing if I DID know the person personally - a parent of mine, a sibling or a child of mine especially.

Yes, but I'd like to have some say in the method by which I'm to die.

I'm growing old. I'm not sure I'd surrender my life for just anyone...but for the right cause or reason, yes. But my remaining days are probably relatively short anyway.
