I remember this well. About 8 or 9 years ago there was a horse running for the first time called 'Mr No Name' (which won at odds of 10/1. Initially they tried to call the horse 'Wear the fox hat' which was obviously turned down by BHB. Then they tried to call it 'Hoof Hearted' which again was turned down. The third attempt at a name was successful. The story amused me and I was tempted to have a few quid on it, but decided to keep my money in my pocket. What a shame!

I think the stewards made the owner change the name of Hoof Hearted. Similarly, there was supposedly a horse named Pheasant Plucker, which seems innocuous enough until you try to say it several times fast, like you might have to say it when you are calling a race.
I've always thought that one of the best-named racehorses was stakes winner Private Thoughts. He was sired by Pretense, out of a mare named Let's Be Gay. Great name!

Yes, there was a racehorse called "Hoof Hearted" The track announcer was laughing so hard about the name he couldn't finish calling the stretch run of the race! Even funnier was that he won! The best name I have heard of was a gelding named "Nosexplease".

My personal favourite was Gee Spot. The name was even better when you looked at her pedigree: Filly by Pursuit of Love (father) out of My Discovery (mother)!!
The authorities are pretty strict about the names of racehorses, but every now and then a rude one will slip through the net. I bet the owners have fun trying to come up with something!

A real popular Harness Pacer was Eaton Roadkill. He tied a world record about 3 years ago at the Meadowlands.

Depending on the colour of the horse, then I guess Quick Silver, Liquid Gold, or Black Beauty are names that conjure up a vision of speed and grace.
Sorry, don't know about Hoof Hearted.

Horses names are usually based on something about the horse or its parents .If you were a horse and I had to name it I would call it Jimminy Chricket . You see you are making chirping noises
