Totally depends on where you eat. If you go to really nice places, for the most part, you could spend $500 (or even more) over the 5 days.

Luckily, many Chicago restaurants have daily deals/specials that make dining there very affordable - even some of the nicer restaurants. You could very easily spend even less than $40 a day on meals in Chicago. The link below is to a website that gives a very comprehensive run-down of the restaurants in Chicago:

If you click on the "dining deals" link on that page, you will be able to see deals at numerous restaurants for a given day. Hopefully this helps!

If your hotel has a continental breakfast in the lobby, that takes care of one meal. If you eat fast food the whole time, you could probably get away with $25 a day. If you want real food, lunch is probably on the average $15 plus drink, and dinner with a beverage is at least $25.

Don't buy into the Rachael Ray thing. She doesn't tip.

It depends on where you eat. There are plenty of fast food joints as well as medium range restaraunts and high price places.
So, yo could could have breakfast at a McDonalds or IHOP for under $10.00, lunch at any fast food joint (under $10.00) and then dinner at a nice or medium range place, say anywhere from $10.00 to over $100.00 per person.
Chicago has some of the best pizza and steak places in the U.S.
They're very moderately priced also.
