I was sitting waiting to see the doctor well their was this one man sitting holding his head (I guess a bad headache) anyhow there was a woman and a baby sitting next to me and the baby was crying (less than 6 months old) and all of a sudden that man looked at that woman and said "I will give you 20 bucks if you shut that kid up"! The woman did not say anything but i said listen here "If you don't like it them walk outside the door because this is a baby and it does not know any better and if you don't want to hear kids crying then don't come to a doctor's office".

The man got up and waited outside the doctor office' door.
What would you have said?

You are completely right on. He was being rude. Children are innocent and sometimes can't control their actions or reactions to things especially if they have to see the doctor.

Honestly, it's a no win situation. If the guy is waiting at the doctor's office it's probably because something is wrong. Especially if he's got a bad headache, it's not unreasonable to think he would get upset at a crying baby. And the way you describe it, it's sounded almost like he was begging the mother rather than yelling in anger.

At the same time, you're not totally out of line because babies do cry and there isn't much you can do about it. If the baby was there to see the doctor, you never know what kind of misery it might have been in. And crying is how babies express themselves.

That being said, I think some parent kind of become immune to the sound of crying and don't realize how much the sound can grate on the nerves of other people. I'm not saying that as a good or bad thing, it's just the way it is. Have you ever been in a movie theatre where a parent has a baby that is making noise and the parent doesn't get up and take the child out. Yes it's rude and discourteous, but I also think the parent just doesn't realize how distracting it is to others.

This situation has nothing to do with the baby. Note that the man was addressing the MOTHER. And any adult human being with manners know that you do not scream in public. When the person disturbing the peace is a child, the PARENT picks it up and takes it out of the situation, to a place where it is not bothering anybody. This is how things are done in polite society..

Trying to bribe the mother into having manners was obviously pointless though. It can't be done. Either you have manners, or you don't. She didn't.

a guy makes a call to convey his new blonde female friend to a football sport. After the game is over, he asks her if she loved the game. She replies: "Oh it change into tremendous, I loved watching those men in tight clothing, yet there is one element i do not realize." "What did you no longer understand ?" And the blonde says: "properly, on the begginning of the game, both communities flipped a quarter to work out who might want to kick off first. Then something of the game anybody change into yelling get the quarter again, get the quarter again, get the quarter again. So i presumed to myself, gosh this is only a quarter!"

Good for you! I would have said the same thing to him. I mean what was that lady supposed to do? She had a sick baby and those of us with kids know there is sometimes nothing that can be done. My son was the worse patient and cried and screamed at the dr so i understand. Again good for you!!!

You know... I probably would have done the same thing. Babies don't know any better. And he had no right telling that to the baby's Mom. Ok so he had a headache... but what about the baby? The baby may have been sicker than he.

I say... Kudos!

I give you a round of applause for that one. Even if he did feel bad, he's supposed to be an adult and should know that a baby can't help but cry. The baby probably felt bad too and there probably wasn't much the mom could do to console it. Congrats to you for standing up for the mom and that baby!!!

Ah.. how easily we chastize those in pain. What wasn't asked was... why the baby was crying. Hungry? Diaper? Wanting to be held? Not meaning to disillusion all of the female population about motherhood, but sometimes mom's don't take care of business. They hear it so much because of the neglect, they are used to turning a deaf ear..and it seems to be the concensus here that it is everyone elses burden to put up with it. The baby is not at fault. But the mom to me is questionable.

I would of told the man if you give me 50 bucks I will make the child wait outside the doctors office. But in all seriousness I would of just prolly stared back at him and been like what an ahole. If he would of continued saying stuff then i would of prolly asked him to leave the same as you.
