In the extreme - while the foetus may be technically "a life" it would not be recognisable as a baby surely - majorly morbid.

No, I don't find it weird or disturbing. Many 2nd trimester babies are born alive and thrive. She could have been at the 6th month and the baby would look normal, beautiful even, but just tiny.
I'm sorry for her loss. Please be as supportive as you can toward this woman in her grief. If you plan to attend the services but have qualms about viewing the remains, you don't have to do so. No one will notice. Many people don't view the remains at funerals.

Not at all. Grief effects us all differently. Have you thought that maybe she wants everyone to see her baby because they never had the chance. A lot of Mothers and Fathers who have had miscarriages agree that people who haven't had one have a hard time understanding the feeling of loss. That baby was Her child and I imagine she wants everyone to know that. :(

Yes. Usually, the hospital simply disposes of the fetus. I think this woman is having post partum depression type symptoms. The fetus never drew breath and a funeral is not ordinary in these circumstances.

I personally have never heard of a funeral for a unborn child but to each his own. I would find that a bit disturbing. That is my personal feelings. Maybe a gravesite service but personal.

Well, she was going to have a baby, so try to be sensitive about the issue. I am unsure about if it is weird or not, I guess in a way it isn't because she did lose something that was very close to her.

It is slightly odd but its possible that this is the only way she can get closure. Actually, forget that first sentence, it's really odd and I wouldn't allow any of my children to get anywhere near that funeral for fear that it would disturb them too much.

Open casket? I think she probably needs therapy to deal with her loss.

It's a little strange... But, luckily, you don't have to go to the funeral! To each their own.
