People who speak English spell is sake. However, since it is Japanese it technically has no correct spelling because they use characters instead of letters.

Saki is a rice wine, not whisky. There are some Japanese whiskeys, but they are not very good. For a good bourbon whiskey try Woodford Reserve. It is primo.

Sake is rice wine (actually closer to beer) which is fermented similarly to a beer.
The "whiskey" version of that, distilled sake, is called shochu
