their ministries. Just because a T.V. evangelist is on T.V. does not make him or her a real Christian. The fact of whether or not they are a Christian should be based on what scripture says as compared to what a person does. Sure T.V. evangelists like Benny Hinn, Rod Parsley and countless others who ask for money
don't seem to me to be real Christians, but it is not for us to judge. That is God's job. We should discern their actions and compare them in light of scripture. Did Paul always ask for money? Don't base Christianity off of what really a few people do out of glutony!

Well, hello! So glad you asked. While I was backslidden I watched T.V. and it opened my eyes to this fact that most churches are guilty of the same gross misuse of the gospel.
It's likely because 99.99% of your Protestant churches picked up the abominable practice of salaried preachers who have titles and are lifted up above the people (respector of persons) and lord it over them (give your money to me as unto the Lord as if I, a mere man am worthy to recieve a tithe and be a mediator between you and God, do so cheerfully or be cursed and I dictate it's a "law of God" for you to give 10% of your income to me or the church and call it a "tithe") from none other than the Catholic church. Look it up in history. They started it about 5 to 7 centuries after Christ died on the cross. (various sources) It is the one single common denominator between Catholic religion, Muslim religion, Buddhist religion, Mormon religion, and Protestant religions, this prostitution of the gospel that defiles the house of God and makes worship about mammon, circumcision of the wallet, instead of about love and equality among the brethren, love for your neighbor, being the good samaritan, etc. It exhalts a man or the fleshly pride of the giver, not Jesus.

No, Jesus didn't recieve or teach a tithe. EVER. NEVER. NOT ONE SINGLE TIME. The conversation with the Pharisees was NOT a stamp of approval on tithes as under the old law which wasn't done away with until the testator died upon the cross of Calvary!! The widow woman IS allowed into heaven although she was too poor to give an impossible tithe since she gave out of her debt, her poverty, her need. A child can tell you it's impossible to figure a tithe from a zero or negative balance!!

Jesus didn't need money for His ministry. The Holy Ghost moved prophets and apostles WITHOUT them asking for MONEY!! The just shall live by faith. The laborer being worthy of his hire and the alms cannot be mistaken for a tithe or required in addition to a so-called tithe, which is a levy. Know the difference between taxes, tributes, civil laws for their theocracy, ceremonial laws, and God's laws. Paul didn't tithe. The disciples didn't tithe. Jews themselves do not tithe. THEY DON'T HAVE A TEMPLE OR PRIESTHOOD AND CHRISTIANS KNEW THAT JESUS TOOK THE PLACE OF THE SHEKEL OF REDEMPTION, THE BLOOD OF ANIMALS (main part of tithe to priests, their inheritance) AND THE PRIESTHOOD ITSELF!! Jews will tell you there is no such thing as a tithe (they give an alms tithe to charitable organisations) until their temple is rebuilt. They are making preparations to do just that.

People need to read and understand about the old testament sacrifice, priesthood, temple, furniture and ceremonial practices and how Christ fulfilled and done away with all of it.

We are taking down a carnal ordinance that was nailed to the cross. You cannot convert the tithe to money. Jesus cleansed the temple of the moneychangers once. They were changing it back to the tithe from money and spending it on whatsoever their hearts desired. Money was not acceptable for the tithe offering and separate from the shekel of redemption and the alms for the treasury. Trace every monetary transaction Jesus ever made and his disciples and other N.T. writers. Read and understand Hebrews 7 is about the Priesthood of Jesus, NOT tithes which are abolished. Study it like the Bereans to see if it be so. The tithe is a LIE for today's church.

The verses in Acts 4:31-37 and Acts 6:1-15, completely define how the Levitical priests inheritance is no longer the tithe but these men accepted the Priesthood office of Christ and were examples of giving under God's principle of "nothing over, nothing lacking" in the new testament. Jews do not pay Rabbis to minister but they are preparing a Levitical priesthood to offer sacrifice AGAIN yet WE DO THE SAME THING TO DENY CHRIST'S OFFICE OF HIGH PRIEST!!! We ourselves are made kings and priests IN Christ Jesus, therefore need no mediator to give ourselves a living sacrifice unto God. Peter and John didn't give alms to the man but what Jesus freely gave to them, they freely shared with the lame man and said "Rise up and walk in the name of Jesus" and he went leaping and praising God in the temple!!

We are prostituting the gospel which Jesus said should be preached to the poor and the common folks heard him gladly. It's not about the preacher, the offering plate, the church building or other program but it's about obedience is better than sacrifice and being spirit led in our giving. Without faith and being led of the spirit, you can't please or be sons of God. I spent much time in studies on this and challenge each and every one to research Jesus teachings, Paul's teachings, and the old covenant types/shadows. You will better understand Jesus office of Priesthood and His sacrifice.

We should never take away from either, even in ignorance, by being deceived by men with enticing swelling words (not just on T.V. but they are some of the most blatant that put the magnifying glass on this false erroneous doctrine of devils) who are described in these verses; "But there were FALSE PROPHETS also among the people, even as there shall be FALSE TEACHERS among you, who privily shall bring in DAMNABLE HERESIES, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. (This includes ALL anti-Christ doctrines, those who deny the Deity of Christ, His resurrection, His blood atonement, the Trinity, godless people who teach that God will allow abominations such as sodomites to enter the kingdom of heaven, etc.)
2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.
3 And through COVETOUSNESS shall they with FEIGNED WORDS MAKE MERCHANDISE OF YOU : whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not." II Peter 2
AND;
"3Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the COMMON SALVATION, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.
4 For there are CERTAIN MEN CREPT IN UNAWARES, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, TURNING THE GRACE OF OUR GOD IN TO LASCIVIOUSNESS, and DENYING THE ONLY LORD GOD, AND OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST,....... (Think about it. How does merchandising the gospel for their profit DENY GOD AND JESUS??) 10 But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves.
11 Woe unto them! for they have GONE IN THE WAY OF CAIN, and RAN GREEDILY AFTER THE ERROR OF BALAAM FOR REWARD, and perished in the gainsaying of Core. 12 These are SPOTS IN YOUR FEASTS OF CHARITY, WHEN THEY FEAST WITH YOU, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water,.." Jude

Your whole statement is a pretty succinct summary of what I believe on this matter. To answer your question, atheists have become quite aggressive in the last 20 years in much of the Western world. For them, it is useful to draw on bad examples of Christianity to highlight what they believe to be the failings of the religion. Of course, to a typical Christian, Benny Hinn and the like are a joke that isn't really funny.

Doesn't every church send a tithing basket around? Benny never asks for money. Well, at least out of the many times I've been to see him preach, I have never ever heard him even bring up the topic of money. Everything that takes place at Benny Hinn services are real! (I've experienced it myself)

Many believe that they leave their worldly things behind. Some just lose them at the airport. Any religion existing today that asks you to give it all to them is of this world and not the next one. Tithing was of the old testament. And Ye shall know them by their works. Salvation is a gift, not an auction to the highest bidder.

This is the public face of christianity, and frankly...it has a black eye.

Back in the late 80's and early 90's there were many scandals involving the televangelists. These "pious" individuals were caught in extra-marital affairs (in one case multiple times), defrauding their followers by purchasing things like air conditioned dog houses, income tax evasion, etc.

Even today, the public face of christianity has that same black eye. One preacher who was vocal against gay marriage caught in a gay sex/drug scandal; those who are pushing the schools to vote on whether or not to include myth in science classes; ...obviously these aren't representative of everyone, but their presence in the public eye does cast a poor light on everyone.

Christianity gets a bad wrap because the headline evangelists generally promise a return on your money (seed faith). If giving to these ministries were a stock market, it would be crucial to be diversified!

How many Christians here attend a church with an unpaid pastor/preacher/priest with services held in the houses of the congregation?

I thought so.

The difference between the TV evangelists and the local ones is entirely in how much they charge for their services.

Because they are not teaching the word of God. They are only out to fill there pockets. They all are hustlers. Hustlin people for there money, and giving nothing in return. You never learn anything and all they preach is prosperity. Especially TD Jakes and Joel Olsteen, he is the biggest one.

They are so phony & so false! I threw them out of my life years ago! I have never regreted that. Hiding behind the robe of the Lord, with all the starving little children in front of them. Millionairs begging me for money... makes me sick!

anybody who gives them a bad rap is just jealous because they can't get on TV and have people throw money at them.

It's Entertainment Folks. Nothing more than taking in a movie or buying a lottery ticket. If you don't like it, don't watch.
