I have had these small spots since I was young. They turn the area red if they are rubbed but are not sore. Does anyone know why people get them.

I dont like wearing sleeveless tops because of it.

I have seen other people with it and my daughter has inherited this from me too. Please help!!!

Oh I forgot to add, they are tiny red spots almost as small as a pin head, but look like they are under the surface.

It could be something that is called keratosis pilaris, i think its the same as or very similar to folliculitis. Exfoliation is very good for this either using a scrub or a mitt of some kind. There is also a product called medicated clearing gel by dermalogica which is good for this. I'll give you a link to the website and it will tell you about the product and where you can get it. You can actually contact them direct on the phone if you have any queries.

This could be dietary and also a need to exfoliate. Try having a look at your intake of dairy and if high cut down for a while or eliminate for at least 2 weeks and see if the small spots go away. It could be other food stuffs like wheat so maybe have a test with your GP. Try exfoliating gently also with a body brush and grain shower gel exfoliator for a few weeks, but dont over do it as the pores may be blocked and tender.

I think I have the same problem! I have it on the back of my upper arms, a wee bit on my outer lower and upper legs. I exfoliate and moisturise every day but it doesn't seem to make any difference. Sorry I couldn't answer your question, good luck.

Its called folliculitis. All it is is an inflammation of the skin around the hair follicle. Ive had this problem ever since birth, all over my arms and legs. I find that using the SilkyMitt exfoliator pads from Boots helps.
