Twice now when I have gone to the grocery store. Someone pulls in next to me while I am clearly unloading children. They look at me while walking away and with their remote blast thier car alarm/horn. This makes me jump and scares my daughter half to death and makes her scream in terror. I tried parking farther away but it happened again. Is it my place to say anything? Do I have rights or is their right to set their alarm anytime anyplace more important than mine or my babies hearing. Do you think they may have done it on purpose?

It cetainly sounds like it. It could be dangerous if it cause the kids to move and get into the line of traffic that traverses the carparks.

Perhaps carry a bag of dograp in a bag with you and when it happens wipe it all over their car door and window.
Or when they are about to leave the supermarket. just mention to one of the staff that you think the person is a shop lifter. Then move on quickly.
The there is the swap the trolly trick take their trolly and leave one in its place. Or throw extras in their trolley.

place a bag of sugar that you have put a hole in in their trolly so it trails around the mart, or a detergent that the cap has been well loosened.

Then there is the supaglue trick squiret super glue in their car door locks. dont stop the electric one but later when their battery goes down they try to use the key they wont get in!

I am sure you can think of lots of ways to get back at these morons good luck

Park as far away as you can and walk to avoid this from happening again. Some people are rude. some people can't half hear, some will intentionally try to scare you and the list goes on. There is no use to say anything to these types of people. You would be wasting your breathe. Avoid them as best you can. You have rights and the some cities have a noise pollution law, but by the time the police got there they would be gone. You can call your local police about the problem and ask them for suggestions. Maybe they could patrol the lot more often. Good luck.

I have never understood why people will park next to a car where people are entering or exiting when there are plenty of spaces available, but they do. Must be the herd instinct. To say anything will get you nowhere with these rude people. Just park further away, or back out if someone squeezes right in next to you.

Most likely, your over reacting. They have every right to start their car alarm and park just as much as you do. If you don't like how people park or the fact that they get out of the car maybe you should look into hiring a baby sitter or just parking on the outside of the parking lot.

I live in a large city and even on christmas eve I can find a place to park my car without worrying about people "getting too close."

Honestly and without being rude, you just need to fight that paternal instinct, your just going to end up getting your car keyed.

They may not be doing it intentionally. They probably always turn on their alarm after they park and start walking away. I don't think there's much you can do besides ***** at them, which might make you feel better but probably won't change anything and might start an argument.

I sympathize with you, and I know the feeling you are getting, BUT your kids are going to have to learn to deal with all kinds of noises and they better start now. Unfortunately the world does not revolve around our children though each of us mommies wishes it did. You need to set a good example for your children and not show when you are startled and laugh it off if they cry.

if it was the same person both times then it is possible it was on purpose, take their registration number for reference but next time just tell them i wish you wouldnt do that your upsetting my daughter wait a few minutes or park further away, if they dont listen then take the number to the police and tell them the owner of this car is deliberately harassing you and your child over parking

If you notice them pull up, why are you not prepared for the beeping? Maybe if you wouldn't react the way you seem to be reacting, your children wouldn't be so scared. And I've heard alarms. I tell my children "honk honk " goes the car and they love it. And I don't think they can damage your hearing.

i think you have all the right to ask them to lower the volume as they are creating noise pollution which is quite dangerous for kids, some people are like that, they don't really respect others privacy and forget about they'll apologize for our kids being scared.
