For pain in the arch:

Pain that starts right when you start walking, and that is in the arch of your foot can be something called plantar faciitis. It's an inflammation of the fibrous layer of tissue on the bottom of your foot that can be caused by the way your foot is positioned, if you have flat feet, overuse, and other reasons. A massage therapist can treat this problem by stretching the fascia on your arch and helping to correct the cause.

For pain in the Joints:
It may be an arthritis related problem, see your doctor for further investigation and treatment.

Hope this helps

If it's in the sole of the foot around the heel, it's probably plantar fasciitis - the most usual cause of morning foot pain. Usually caused by a less than ideal biomechanical foot. Usually starts the minute your foot hits the floor in the morning, although usually fine in bed.

If that sounds familiar, get some good arch supports, get along to your doctor. Your treatment choices include tablets, local electrotherapy by a physio or an injection of local anaesthetic and steroid.

The most important thing is the arch support and to get assessed by a podiatrist for orthotics. (much more expensive than standard arch supports, but you may need them).

Good luck.

Heel spur or plantar fascitis. I have a heel spur and it hurts like hell in the morning until I get some arch support socks on. See a foot doctor if you can, if not, get arch support socks or a small brace. A tightly-wrapped ace bandage will help in the interim.

I have had that problem recently but on the side rather than the sole. It was tendinitis (inflammation of the tendons) and I couldnt put my foot on the floor when I got out of bed. I had to have a plaster splint on but it resolved. It needs plenty of rest and immobilization for a while.
