We're all gonna have to get over it. They hate us because we are not like them. Love them anyway.
John 15:18-25
18 “If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. 19 If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. 20 Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also. 21 But all these things they will do to you for My name’s sake, because they do not know Him who sent Me. 22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have no sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin. 23 He who hates Me hates My Father also. 24 If I had not done among them the works which no one else did, they would have no sin; but now they have seen and also hated both Me and My Father. 25 But this happened that the word might be fulfilled which is written in their law, ‘They hated Me without a cause.’

I'm a Christian, and from what I've seen around this forum, I think it works both ways. Atheists and Christians call each other names and say some pretty awful things. That really bothers me from the standpoint that a lot of atheists claim to be tolerant and a lot of Christians claim to be loving, but their actions refute their words.
What both sides seem to forget is that there are real live human beings at the other end of the computer lines -- people with feelings that can be hurt. If I have my choice between making a point and hurting someone else, I'd rather err on the side of kindness.
Maybe Christians and atheists both need to take a step back and rethink their attitudes.

All you have to do is read some of the responses from Christians here to see that Christians generalize and insult atheists, too. Mahal calls atheists "arrogant" and pretends that their arguments can be "unmasked with little beyond common sense." A.C. calls our reasons for not believing as she does "excuses." Angelpurplewings has even convinced herself that Christians are more "giving" than atheists. Dr. Zoom Zoom buys into the stereotype that atheists are atheists because they "had a bad experience in their life and they hate all Christians for it." It really makes one wonder whether these people have ever had a meaningful discussion with a real atheist.
That said, I agree absolutely that it's insulting to claim that Christians "have a low IQ." We're really not all that different, atheists and Christians. We really are not.

2 Corinthians 12:10 (New International Version)
10That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
Mark 4:17 (Amplified)
And they have no real root in themselves, and so they endure for a little while; then when trouble or persecution arises on account of the Word, they immediately are offended (become displeased, indignant, resentful) and they stumble and fall away.
Mark 4:16-18 (in Context) Mark 4 (Whole Chapter)
There not suppose to stop until the day of the Lord comes. Then every tongue shall confess He is the Lord God Almighty. Until then deal with it and pray for them. The persecution we go through everyday is the same as what Jesus went through. Except he died for the persecutor's persecutions.
Be Blessed and Rejoice in the Lord!

Nothing.
I am a devout Christian, I went to College, have a great family and a pretty good IQ score. I think the reason we are picked on is that the atheists out there have nothing to hold on to. nothing to put their effort into except to belittle the Christians. That's what happens when satan has someone to work through. The atheist does'nt believe in God, therefore opens the door for OTHER things to take over. I feel freally sorry for them. I believe that being a Christian has only enhance my life. I have strong values that I enstill in my children. I have a terrific husband who works hard so I can stay at home and raise my kids. Life is good.

No, most Christians are, in fact, very nice people. The same goes for Atheists. Lemme make a comparison for you.
There's a saying something to the effect of "Someone can be the nicest person until they get behind the wheel of a car."
The same goes for people and the Internet, being anonymous is too big a privilege for some people to handle.

Criticism against Christians seems reasonable based on the imperfections of a number of believers; while people of true faith realize that no people have the knowledge or the right to judge any other persons. Only God knows each soul and has the power to judge.
It is hoped that when mankind become a little more mature, people will cease to show enmity to each other, but concentrate on learning to practice mutual love and respect to build a better world for ourselves and for our offsprings.

Do you really not pay attention to whats going on in the world?
Ok, lets barely scratch the surface...
Christians knock on my door to sell their religion like door to door salesman. If I see them on the street, they follow me down the street preaching even if I lie and say I'm already Christian.
They prevent other religions from being treated qually. Want an example? Pagan soldiers can't even have a pentacle carved on their gravestones because Christians don't like it.
How about this? When I was in college, the Wiccans were denied the ability to have a Yule ritual in the Atrium of the college because it would be a "disruption" while the Christians were allowed to hold mass.
The Wiccans were also denied the ability to hold ritual in the city park but the Christians could hold their nativity there.
Oh but I'm not done yet. A Pagan store in my city was forced to close because the Christians started picketing outside the store and harassing all its customers and the excuse "its our religion" was used and they got away with it.
Oh but I barely begin to speak...
Christians are trying to ban gay marriage, ban abortion, and ban life saving stem cell research....
I can keep going for hours.
You take your pick. And you'll know exactly whats so bad about Christianity.
To sum it up... Christians want special treatment. They want to interfere in other peoples lives with impunity. All because they're Christian.
If they'd knock it off, we'd all get along fine but they think its their duty to harrass and aggravate everyone around them to live by what THEY think is right.
THAT is whats so bad about Christians.
Those that can learn to keep their religion to themselves are fine. Its the one that can't that are the problem. And there are far far too many that can't.
Hell, I'm not even American but I can see how close to becoming a Theocracy you people are. And you actually think thats a good thing? If that happens, freedom will go out the window and, the last I looked, the whole point of the US was freedom for EVERYONE not just the Christians.

Unfortunately, Christians have always been persecuted ... look at what happened to Jesus, right? That's not going to change. People see that alot of those who claim to be Christian are hateful, judgemental, self-righteous, and hypocritical -- especially the ones who make it into the public eye. After all, those of us who quietly love our neighbors and give of our time and support are easily brushed to the side when compared with people like Fred Phelps -- whose followers picket military funerals and hold signs on streetcorners that proclaim "God Hates F@gs". When trying to understand why people have the wrong impression of Christians, you have to look at the reasons that they might have them -- the way that people who are allegedly part of the body of Christ act! The only thing that we can do about this is to live our lives as Jesus commanded us to. We can be a good example of His love, even when those around us are not.
Take care, and God Bless! ><>

You know I asked a question similar to this...and I only got one actual answer, everybody else responded with a insult or attack. If you believe that I am ignorant as a christian, than enlighten me. Don't just criticize me.
Although, there is one comment on here that I tend to agree with, even as a chrisitan..most people can't give you a straight answer about what they believe. I think as Christian's it is our responsiblity to know what and why we believe. Otherwise we are justifying exactly what atheist accuse us of all the time....ignorance.

I agree with you and no Christians are not that bad? What about the people who murder other people? No one here degrades them because those people aren't doing good in life and it is obvious. The only reason why I think people degrade Christains because they are insecure themselves. I do sin but I think another reason is because a lot of them tend to judge others, too.
