My sister says "It's just fine for dogs to lick, bless their little hearts!" Personally I think this is disgusting, I don't let my puppy lick, she wanted me to post this question.

Just to clarify, I kiss my puppy on her cute little nose, but I don't want her slobbering all over my face! I have two young children and she would be all over their little faces all of the time if I allowed her to lick. We snuggle, we play, but do you really think allowing a dog to lick their privates and then lick all over your children and your guests is appropriate?

Our dog (1 year old) loves to lick everything, especially our hands. I've read it's "grooming" (i.e., she grooms members of her pack, which is us) but I also think she likes the taste of whatever is on our hands. There's no germ issue as other have posted and I think some licking is sweet, but as with anything too much is too much so this hand licking is a behavior we're trying to control (as much as we can).
On the other hand - she is also a very friendly dog and will greet everyone with a 'kiss' by running to them and standing up on her hind legs, waiting for them to lower their face to receive a gentle little lick from her on the face. She understands this as a greeting (just the way humans kiss) and in fact, she knows the word "kiss" means to do the greeting to someone and if you say, give so and so a kiss, she'll go do it. If she sees my partner and I kissing she even gets a little jealous and nudges us so she can give us each a kiss too. I find this remarkable behavior as it is so human-like and she clearly understands it as way that both humans and dogs great people they like!

My puppy is soooo adorable and cute, I could care less if he licks me. He misses me so much, which is why I wanted a dog, to be happy when I come home! I think its personal preference as you can tell by all the answers. If you feel comfortable with your puppy kissing your face and hands, fine and if you don't..train your puppy not to do it. I think its so adorable how mine is so happy it seems his whole body, not just his tail wags when I walk in the door. Now that is true love!!!!!!

I love dog kisses. They are so sweet, and i do not think it is gross. Some people think that you can get sick from dog kisses, but i have been working with dogs my whole life, and i have never been sick from a dog licking me. But this doesn't mean i think you should allow your dog to lick everyone. While i love to get kisses from dogs, a lot of people do think it is gross. If i get a dog, my mom will Not touch the dog if he licks her. So i am going to teach my dog not to lick other people, just because not everyone likes it.

Many pet owners allow to their dogs to lick them, it is actually pretty discussing, they lick their private areas, both of them and they eat just about anything they can that has the fecus smell to it. I say no.

I think it is okay to let a dog lick your hand. If you feel comfortable with the animal doing that. If you aren't comfortable then it is not okay for your pet to do that. I let my dog lick my hand, but i don't let it lick my face. If she does i just tell her to stop. If you don't want your dog to lick then don't let it. It is all up to you sister!! Make sure you do what you really want to do.. Be yourself...

Well nobody wants to be mauled by a dog who wont stop licking you. I mean its kinda rude. if the dog licks my hand once I will forgive it but some people just say that cuz they can't control their animals.

A dog licking you is a sign of respect. As long as you don't let them lick your mouth or lick young children (if a dog has worms, they can easily be passed onto others) remembering to wash your hands afterwards, there shouldn't be a problem.

convinced enable her to lick herself. the finest element i have got here upon in the journey that your aggravating about the blood getting everywhere is a element pronounced as "warmth pants" its a diaper like element with a tail hollow in it it really is actual washer-friendly and reusable. it serves 2 applications incorporates the blood and would not enable her to be bred via a male. (a pup condom, in case you'll) vet catalogs have them for sale for approx 20.00 a small fee to pay for a unplanned being pregnant and or emergency c-area or perhaps some wonderful stains on your solid carpet. yet all the way down to it the licking is only a thanks to sparkling herself. how ought to you sense in case you've been in her position and not in any respect getting a bath or bathe wide-spread? eeewww!!! lol MINDY~BREEDER

They say a dogs tongue is cleaner than ours. I let my dog lick my face but I would never let him lick my tongue. That is how dogs show affection. Maybe you are not a dog person, if you were you would understand.
