OK. Its been a few days since we split and yesturday was the first day we havent contacted each other. I feel like crap, but I am doing better today. I havent cried for about 24 hours, thats good I guess. We were together for 5 yrs and it wasnt a sudden break up, we were having issues, but I thought him breaking it off was a bit harsh. We could of tried to fix things, but he seems to think it was all just to hard.

My question is...
Should a relationship be hard? Should you have to constitly watch what you say (we did get a big bitchy to each other) and should you have to explain yourself when your in a bad mood from work stuff, or friend stuff?

At what point do you stop trying for a relationship to work?

1) Yes, most relationships that mean anything are hard. That's just how it is.
2) No, you should not have to always watch what you say. You need someone that you can be yourself around. But you SHOULD be respectful which it sounds like you weren't at times.
3) Yes and no, you can explain yourself by saying, "I don't want to talk about it right now". Once you've cooled off, you can explain yourself and he should respect that.
4) Stop trying to make it work once one of you is no longer willing to work at it. It takes two.

after 5 years you shouldn't have to explain why your in a bad mood. all relationships have difficult times and fighting helps you to grow. but if he's emotionally not there for you then he's not the right one. maybe he's just going through stress and doesn't feel like working through it. and if he's losing interest they sometimes come back so dont worry. give it time and he'll probably wanna work through it.

depends on how much you want it to work --- it should not be too hard you just must work at it --- you watch what you say because your relationship is (or should be) more important that how you feel about work ---- talk and resolve your problems ---- and you should both be able to de stress each other --- best wishes
