Last time I drove to Canada (awhile ago) I took two cases of American beer into Canada and declared it to Canadian customs. They just waived me through. On the way back I brought two cases of Canadian beer (Old Vienna - it was superb) back into the USA and declared it to USA customs. They just waived me through.

As far as I understand you can take 40 oz of hard liqor into the states per person that is over 21. If you are traveling by plane it has to be in your packed luggage and not carry on.

your not supposed to take in or out alcohal among other things. If its hidden and you don't say anything about it at Boarder Control you may be able to smuggle it though. I don't know what happens if you caught though, maybe they just take it away or arrest you...your choice to take the chance
