I'm sure the dynamic is quite different. What do you think they talk about the most?

Seeing as they arent too keen on Falum Gong ( a religious movement in China), Id be willing to bet they dont discuss a whole lot in the R&S section of China... Might have some commie pinko police offficer surfing the site and reporting you to the authorities....

I used to live in Ping Shou, China, 14km from the Great Wall, inner Mongolian Desert. When I took the trash outside, I couldnt count to five before three cops were in my dumpster looking for evidence that I was a spy... I got beat up for hanging out with local boys - because I was a "round eye" who was probably spreading democracy - and they didnt want that there... Interesting place, mainland China is, outside of Beijing...

Yes - actually NPR did a story on Google in China...

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=5172204

apparently they have "fake google" that is set up by the government and google inc. to make the citizens think they are actually on the internet but it is really a bunch of pro-chinese government propaganda...

I think it's wrong for Google to contribute to mind control like that... that's why I use different search engines. Bush tried to do the same thing in the US by forcing Google to hand over it's search results for "national security".

Also - just for the record - Communism and Democracy are not opposites... Communism does not equal fascism. Communism is an economic structure and democracy is a government structure... they could co-exist but no one has ever tried it before.
Just because the Chinese government is both communist and a dictatorship does not mean that they are synonymous.

No, I don't think I have ever wondered that. They probably argue amongst themselves between Buddhism and Atheism. There are most likely a bunch of people on there with sincere questions, and some people there who just like to say "you're wrong" or insult people who don't agree with their beliefs. It's funny how the names can change but the argument remains the same.

I tried going there once looking to get some insight into Eastern religion and philosopy....

It was full of Christians.

I'm just playing. Actually it is a lot different from here. It is less of an argument and more like a study.
And far fewer questions.

Only the names have changed. Other than that, it's probably about the same.

The Buddhists say the Taoists are condemned to eternal reincarnation as lower beings because of their lack of faith. The Taoists say that the Buddhists are reading the wrong scriptures and will never achieve the way. Everybody hates the Muslims.

The Atheists just hang around making witty remarks.

I'm trying to browse it with Babelfish (a translator) but I can't even find their religion section. It's really different over there.

Side note: Their thumbs up, thumbs down feature is called "with/not with". Interesting.

I don't think they have one. Because they don't have the freedom of religion like we do. They are not able to even speak in public about religion with out getting caught in some area's if they do they go to prison.

Well, the cult of Yao Ming is quite popular there. To many Chinese, any Asian that is over 7 and a half feet tall is to be revered as a living God.... Rumor has it, that Buddha himself blessed his first pair of basketball sneakers.

Now that you mention it, it would be very interesting to read and see how much the government is filtering or controlling it.
