eBay is not an advertisement site.
It is an auction site.
Therefore the rules are similar to a real car auction - you pay a small fee to put your car in the auction, and also pay a percentage on the final sale price.
eBay do not hide their charges - and anyone with any sense would not create an auction listing without reading and understanding the charges.
The other sites you mention may work out cheaper - you should have researched that before putting your car up for auction on eBay, and made an informed decision.

Look before you leap. Read the fine print.
No, I have not had the same problems because I took the time to research eBay BEFORE I invested money, and time into selling.
Did you read the How To Buy & Sell on eBay Motors....
"You pay only an Insertion Fee and a Transaction Services Fee to list a vehicle on eBay Motors"
eBay United Kingdom Motors' Fees Listing
http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/sell/motorfees.html
If only you did that research yourself, you would not be ranting about eBay ripping you off. They did not rip you off, YOU listed a car on their site for 14 days. THEY provided a service for 14 days. YOU failed to READ the details regarding the service. YOU have to PAY. SIMPLE as THAT!

Ebay charges based on a percentage of the asking/selling price. You'd have to be crazy to advertise a CAR on Ebay. Their fees (as you can see) will kill you.
Don't do it again!

Did the car sell ? If there was a bid then they charged you a final value fee as well as an insertion fee. The final value fee is a % and if it didn't sell you can get it back.

eBay charges a fee for any listing, regardless of whether the item sells or not.

eBay doesn't hide their charges. You didn't read before you posted the auction.
