OK, gotcha!
I'm more afraid of some of the answers though! A shocking number of folks display their utter ignorance of US taxes. It's one thing to differ on the reading of a complex law or regulation but it's entirely different on the relative no-brainers.

The ONLY time you can claim your dog is if he is a certified service dog (guide dog, hearing dog, seizure dog). In that case you can his cost and upkeep as a medical expense. This includes food and veterinary expense. If he is not a certified dog and you don't have a doctor's order for him, you can't claim him.
I know you were being sarcastic but some people CAN claim dogs or other animals due to their medical conditions.
This is a bit of sarcasm after reading some of the tax questions on here
You said it.. But one of the answer also got a point about the medical condition....
Now people need to search for questions before asking it . Hope yahoo will look into it. In my tax forum i delete all questions if it is repeated. http://findtaxservice.com/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,35/
Also If we are running a promotion to give away FREE TAX SOFTWARE as well.

I'm glad you are joking. Unfortunately, someone might actually ask this seriously. I can't believe some of the dumb questions asked here.
How many times do we need to read, "How much is my refund with $15,000 of income?" no info to answer.

No you can't. This country has a stronger cat lobby since there are more cats than dogs.

I'm still trying to make IRS believe I've got 11 children, all of whom are over 65 and blind.

Good one!
And no sillier than some of the questions (and even scarier, some of the answers) here.

Only if you are married to or have adopted him or her. Since I have always done it, it must be ok. My butcher once told be that his neighbor that knew a tax person said it was ok.
