I don't know if it is a sin. But the Bible teaches not to curse, and this music curses. The Bible also teaches not to do any of the stuff that these pop stars sing about. The message behind the music is very dangerous. I beleive it was David in one of the Psalms wrote "May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing and acceptable to YOU (God), my Lord, my Rock, and my redeemer. Do you think Jesus would listen to this music? If no, then you have your answer. Also read Romans 12:2, and Philippians 4:8

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. This means that if we have a personal relationship with God we should not be mixed with the world. We should have a different view on what is of God and what is not. I don't think God is happy to hear all this crazy music people make. Most of the people that sing this music or rap is not a christian. The Bible says we shall know them by there fruit.

You know, if you have a living relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, the Spirit of God within you, will reveal to you whether this is right or not. It sounds as if you have a conscience about listening to these muscians. Im not up to date with the music you mention here, but if you don't think it pleases God then you need to submit to Him in this.

When we submit to the Lordship of Christ in our lives, we can never miss out, for the Lord will always give back in far more ways to satisfy and fill the gaps of that which we have given up.
God Bless you!

Christianity is not a question of heaven. It all boils down to...

Matthew 22:37
37 Jesus said to him, “ ‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”

...how much you love God.
Also found in Mark 12:30 and Luke 10:27.

Philippians 4:8,9
"8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. 9 The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you."

Why fill your mind with thoughts with evilness which will only lead to evil/sin? Feel free to email me.

You can get edited music which brings the sin level down but I would consult with the pastor and see what he has to say.

My family are Christian and my Grandmother who is devoted to the Lord too thinks its a sin.

Personally, I don't think it is. Its a form of art. Only if you do the things they talk about. I listen to alot of hip-hop but its more of the songs with meaning, ie. 2pac "Changes".

I believe that once a person exercises saving faith in Jesus Christ, he or she is forever in the family of God. God never kicks anyone our of his forever family. A number of Scripture passages support this view. For example, in 1 Corinthians 12:13 we are told that at the moment of salvation the Holy Spirit places us in the body of Christ. Once we are infused into the body of Christ, we are never excised from the body. In fact, Ephesians 1:12 and 4:30 indicate that at the moment of believing in Jesus Christ for salvation, we are permanently "sealed" by the Holy Spirit. At that point, we are God's everlasting property. That seal guarantees that we'll make it to heaven.
Moreover, we read in John 10:28-30 that it is the Father's purpose to keep us secure despite anything that might happen once we have trusted in Christ. Nothing can snatch us out of His hands. God's plans cannot be thwarted (Isaiah 14:24). Further, Romans 8:29-30 portrays an unbroken chain that spans from the predestination of believers to their glorification in heaven.
Another fact we need to keep in mind is that Christ regularly prays for each Christian (Hewbews 7:25). With Jesus interceding for us, we are sucure. (His prayers are always answered!)
Of course, the fact that a believer is secure in his salvation does not mean he is free to sin. If the Christian sins and remains in that sin, Scripture says that God will discipline him or her just as a father disciplines his children (see Hebrews 12:7-11).

If the music contains lyrics that may be offensive as most rap music is and you feel a conviction about it then stop listening to it.
I am not sure about catholics but we baptist dont talk to anybody but GOD about our faith or something such as this.I think you guys believe you must talk to a person who is also fallable.
Report or dont I care less.

Listening to that type of music is NOT a sin, but can easily inspire you to sin. Just be careful. The best way to stay away from sinning is simply to stay away from the things that tempt you to sin.

I do not think so. I am a Christian and I listen to the music more than I listen to the lyrics that are being said.

It sounds like you are trusting in what you do or do not do as a qualification on going to heaven. Your choice of music is irrelevant regarding this issue. The issue is not "you", the issue is do you believe in Christ as your Savior, and nothing else?
