This has happened a few times to me and the circumstances seem to be fairly consistent so I'm not sure what it is.

On several occasions I have awakened just after falling asleep, caught a cold draft on the back of my neck, and started shaking uncontrollably for about 15 minutes. The more I resist, the more intense the shaking. I found that the best way to get rid of it is to relax. I can talk and think clearly but it's really full-body tremors - jaw, neck, upper arms, torso, upper legs/buttocks and is a little scary. It's like a shiver but much worse. It has happened 3 times when I'm sleeping in a room with several other people. Is this a social anxiety thing? It's weird. I eventually tire out and fall asleep without a problem. It happens with or without alcohol.

I should also mention that I have had panic disorder in the past and my panic attacks were nothing like this. I am currently on a very low dose of Zoloft. I have told my doctor and he said it was just a fatigue/anxiety kind of thing.

ure doctors probably right, but it seems wierd that it happens to be fairly consistent, and at night times after falling asleep,

i would make sure u take ure medication and on time, it may have been where u forgotten to take ure medicine.

hmmm it is wierd, i think when u said alcohol something hit in my head and i member reading thats it not recommended to take alcohol with zoloft. but talk to ure doc and tell him how much alcohol units u can take lol, i know, even i woudnt stop drinking even if i was on medication that recommended me not to.

this treatment with zoloft, how long if u mind me asking, it says it treats depression and anxiety, usually takes about 6-12 months.

ive read the side effects of this drug and it doesnt have the syptoms u are talking about,

sry if i ask some personaly questions here but what other medication or drugs are u taking?? there might be clashes which the doc should notice if he didnt!!

and do u take any other recretaional drugs like weed or cocaine??

email me if u like noname_2001_2002@yahoo.co.uk

would like to help i know how doc's are, sometime they dont take u seriously.

gd luck take it easy :)

Don't ever take the sleeping pills route!!

1. They will damage your liver big time and you can get into serious health problems.

2. You will get hooked up on them and you won't be able to have a normal life any more if you don't take your pills everyday.

The sleeping pills industry is damaging our health by capitalizing on our ignorance, and by distracting people from effective and natural ways to deal with this problem. I had been taking prescription sleep medications [Ambien] for over 5 years. It stopped working and I simply took more. Still did not work. Nights were very difficult - medication put me to sleep but I would wake up after 2–3 hours with a strong sympathetic response (fast pulse, pounding heartbeat, wide awake alert). It was a very difficult cycle to break. I was really in bad shape due to lack of sleep.

After years of struggling I was able to cure my insomnia naturally and pretty fast. I followed the Sleep Tracks sleep optimization program, here is their official web -site if you want to take a look: http://www.insomniacure.net

Ohhh..and Good Luck!

honesty, you need to see a dr so that they can take a medical history and go into it with more depth with you. I personally suffer from mood cycling and GAD w/ panic attacks. I have never personally had a panic attack like the one you are describing but they manifest differely for everyone. The best thing to do is go to your family Dr. to see if you have any medically wrong with you then ask what you should do from there. But it is important to get a physical to make sure that you aren't sick before you see a psychiatist becuase taking medicine for anxiety problems will make you feel worse if you don't need it.

good luck

I have had many experiences like these. They are often the first symptoms of a panic attack for me.

Although you may not have had panic attacks like these in the past, it definitely sounds to be a panic attack to me. I'd recommend talking to your doctor about adjusting your anxiety medications. I am on Celexa for panic/anxiety and it has worked very well in controlling such panic attacks as these.

I have read some litterature about panic attacks. But they allways seem to have a more scientific approach and that is nothing I need in my struggle to survive those horrible panic attacks. This is a "hand on" and very practical book. I felt it was written to me. I am sure that you are going to feel the same.

Joe Barry writes exactly how I think. The examples are perfectly described. And the method is genius. I recommend this book and thanks Joe Barry for writing it. It changes your life

Lack of sleep will do many things to the body. I've had this happen to me, but not to your degree. I will start twitching on and off in the night. My Dr. said its because I'm not sleeping throughout the night.

Could be a vitamin B deficiency also.

I have weird things happen to me when i'm extremely tired and haven't slept well for about 2 days in a row. I start spinning, seeing stuff and feel like someones grabbing me and can't talk but can see. its bizzare, and yours sounds pretty strange and freaky 2.

Is it lack of sleep???

Sound like panic attacks to me, or is it just malaria ? Are you single or married or do you have a boy-friend and if so ask him to help you and to soothe you. Have you tried to consult a psychiatrist or a general practitioner? If not please do so, your life will improve greatly on the right diagnosis.
