Quote from previous poster: "So yes anyone can be good and kind- and that is great, but they do it to please themselves and try to "win" something in the end, rather than open their eyes to the truth."
Are you kidding me????? Atheists are trying to WIN something in the END??? THERE IS NO END IF YOU ARE AN ATHEIST. NO AFTERLIFE. THIS IS IT! Don't you think its the christians trying to "win" their way into heaven by "believing" and reading their bibles and praying and casting out doubts?
Atheists are living their lives for this world. All the better reason to make it a nice place. Christians (some of them anyway) are trying to live this life for rewards in the "next" one.

Of course you can, one does not exclude the other. Why do you not want Bible quotes if you are not a believer? Are you looking for reassurance ? I know Bible quotes can be boring and stifling. The thing to distinguish is between morals and ethics. I will give you an example:- it is highly moral in Islam for a man to marry more than one woman but, is it ethical towards the women ? Morality is conventional, ethics are relative ! The great principle is never to do unto others what you do not want them to do to you. Capito ?

Yes. I am not religious but I have never harmed anyone. I volunteer and am well liked by the kids I mentor. I have never stolen, nor taken bribes, nor lied other than to prevent hurt to another. I help whoever I can in the community where I live and where I work.

I am a very decent and kind person. I love my husband, my children, my family, and my friends. I do volunteer work, and give to charity. I don't criticize anyone for their religious beliefs, but will defend my right to not have them and not be called evil and immoral. I will also stand up for anyone who is verbally or otherwise assaulted by anyone who claims to be doing so in the name of God.

Of course, but that won't get you into heaven. Many think that if they just be good people, then after this life they will receive heaven. But Jesus is the only way to heaven--and salvation is only through Him- as John 14:6 says. I have to use bible scripture, it is the most important reference when speaking of the truth. Grace is what we are saved by- God's grace- As Ephesians 2:8 says.
So yes anyone can be good and kind- and that is great, but they do it to please themselves and try to "win" something in the end, rather than open their eyes to the truth.

The word religion refers to traditions, rituals and cerimonies that are repeated over and over. This is in contrast to Spiritualism which involves having a personal relationship with God. I think to be a good person you have to have some spirituality, but not religion.

Absolutely! I know a lot of kind and decent people who are atheists and agnostics.
I do pray that the Lord will bring them to repentance and knowledge of Him, so that they may also know Him who loves them and paid the penalty for their sins.
