Basically because overhead is high. Remember that each of your professors are doctors. They could probably be making hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of dollars in private practice. So their salary has to be commessurate for teaching and research. And the actual lab/anatomy/hands on portions of law school cost a lot more money than chairs and desks (for, say, grad school). Add to that the fact that MOST doctors will be able to recoup those costs quickly after they complete their residency (although not all doctors, unfortunately), there's no disincentive for being price competitive.

i don't think that pharmacutical school is as expensive or as extensive as medical school is, but it is very expensive. On the up side, pharmasists make a lot of money (if I remember correctly they can start in the $50,000 range or higher) so if you friend manages his money properly he should be able to pay off his school with relative ease.

ummm, well med school is different than pharmacy programs, I'm pretty sure there are some pharmacy programs that you can graduate from in 6 yrs total (including undergrad) but yeah, pharmacists get paid like 90,000 and a signing bonus in some cases...it's worth it.

I go to a school which offers both pharmacy and medicine. Medicine's tuition per semester for an in state resident is about $12,400, and pharmacy's tuition per semester for an in state resident is about $6900.
My school offers enough loan dollars to make it through. The default financial aid package for pharmacy students total $31000 per year.

Yeah, it's, but if you get a scholarship, it could be free or cheaper. Also, the reason it's expensive becuz u will be making a lot of $$ once you're out of school.
