My husband was in active duty for 4 years and i now thinking about getting out. Since we live in Germany it is hard to find a job for him on the economy. So we might end up signing up again. Does anyone know how and when he could do that? We definitely want to first go back to Germany where I still have to finish my studies. Thank you all for your support!

There is really no time limit. Besides, if he has only done 4 years, he is still part of the IRR (inactive ready reserve). Uncle Sam should have no problem allowing him to finish that on active duty. So, have him contact the nearest recruiter. As an American citizen, he should not have a problem finding one. As long as he has an RE code (see his DD Form 214, discharge paperwork) of 1, he will not have a problem joing back up.

Like the others have said at any time. Of course if you are out too long then you might some retraining or whatnot. Good luck on getting Germany. (Man I still remember Octoberfest!)

Call a prior service recruiter, the consulate should be able to help you with that. You/he/both, I'm not sure who you were referring to threw your question can re-up until your 35th birthday.

At least that's the way it works in the Marines, except after 6 months you can no longer retain your rank

1ST.... Depending on Your RE code... you can enlist the day after you get out....

If you recieved an honorable discharge with no disability or anything like that you can re- enlist the day after your ETS date...
