For the past few years I've constantly been scratching my head and when I stop there are desposits of whitish grayish oily stuff under my fingernails. Its not lice and I don't think it dandruff because it only gets worse when I use a dandruff shampoo. Am I scratching off my scalp? I want it to go away! Please someone tell me whats wrong with me!?!?!

your totally fine, its just a mixture of dry skin (not dandruff) and the oils that your scalp naturally produces...when you shower make sure to scrub your scalp well when you take a shower...if you have to wash your hair twice then do it...that happened to me when i was younger...stop scratching your scalp too....but your fine and you dont need to see a dermatologist.

go see a doctor. But it might be product buildup.. if you use a lot of hair products and take a long time to wash ur hair could be the reason why you are getting that whitish oily stuff under your nails. Wash your hair with a good deep cleaning shampoo every other day and try to avoid all the products for a while. if it doesnt work then go see a doctor ASAP

Its probably dry scalp. Also pretty much the same as dead skin or dandruff. Make sure you rinse your hair real good. You may also want to massage your scalp with a fine tooth comb before showering, and use a hair moisturizer, that will also help moisturize the scalp.

I think this is natural, it may be an indication that you may have a bit of an oily scalp. Yes, I do think that your just scratching your scalp off.
