I have pierced ears and one earlobe is infected and I heard from my boyfriend that Vicks could be used to help heal my infected earlobe. I was just wondering if anyone else has done this before and if it actually works.

Put hot compresses on it several times a day and keep it very clean - wash it gently with soap and water. You can put a little Neosporin ointment on it or other antibiotic cream or ointment, but hot compresses work the best. For them, you can just use a clean washcloth with the hottest water you can stand on it, wring it out and hold it gently on your earlobe for a few minutes. Repeat this a couple times - a few times a day.

Although the white paraffin that is the base of Vicks might soften up your earlobe quite well, you might find the burning sensation that you'll feel from the 5% turpentine oil (one of the 4 main aromatic ingredients) might be enough to convince you against using this on any type of open wound.
However, this is based solely on the information that I've found at mypharmacy.co.uk

Vicks is not for infections, it's to help clear clogged nasal passages and irritated windpipes. Use Neosporin or some generic anti-bacterial gel, and/or put rubbing alcohol on the earring and insert it into the piercing.

No.

See a doctor for your infected ear. It's safer than using something that is not meant to be used for that purpose.
