Would you rather have people free to kill, to steal, to commit adultery, to hate? Would you rather have people suffer because of these things a thousand times more than they do today? That is what the world would be like if we Christians did not believe. What harm does my being able to convince others to believe do? If I am wrong, will people be worse off here on earth now and worse off when they die? You see, the main difference between you and I is that I preach God because I care about the person who has not yet found Him....you preach against God because you don't care and just want to feel good about doing your own thing. Mine is based on love for my fellow human being. Yours is based on love of yourself. In any other situation, who would you believe?

Your premise is quite faulty. Belief in god is not required to consider killing, stealing, adultary etc. as "bad". There is absolutely no proof that these things would increase with atheism.

The harm from you trying to convince others to believe as you do: if you are merely trying, that's fine. If you are FORCING your beliefs on others (anti-gays, for example), that IS harmful because it discriminates against an entire group of people. You know, humans, who were born independent entities and who deserve the basic freedoms?

The main difference between you and me is that you preach god because you are NOSY and controlling. I don't preach god because there is no harm in not believing and I don't need to control someone to my way of thinking.

do you really think that laws existed only because of the ten commandments?

without even looking at reality and just working within the fabrications of your own bible you will see that egypt and the israelites and old kings all had laws governing societies that pretty much had the same rules and regulations. None of these societies lived in anarchy like you would have people believe, there was a ruler, and there was order. if what you say is true, and the first "law of god" aka the ten commandments should have been the turning point in human history when "god's law" telling us not to kill, rob or steal would have meant that prior to this that is all people did because they thought it was ok, but guess what- they didn't.

Why? because of political theory and the very nature of humanity and why we live in groups and bands for protection. Protection from outside dangers as well as inside dangers.

you go around convincing people away from thier beliefs that make them happy, no wait- you EXTORT people into believing christianity- that is what missionaries do, they force little children to believe or they get no food. basically providing them with the choice "believe or die". Sound like peacefull and loving to you?

actually people don't preach against god. in a contest of fiction and fact, fact will win every time. in a contest between religion and science, that is also what will happen. you preach to convert people, don't bs yourself and don't care about thier happyness, if you did, you would leave them as they are. you preach to re-affirm your own faith and make YOU feel good.

People are already free to kill , steal , commit adultery , and hate .... there are only laws saying we cant steal or kill of these mentioned in which case we still do ...
Christainity dose not nor will it EVER change that .... its called free will our own ability to make choices ... poeple make them every day ...
GOOD AND BAD
RIGHT AND WRONG
We pay for our choices in different way some may go to jail others dont ... but suffer in other ways ...
There would be no difference whether there was christianity or not free will is ever ending as long as humans have a brain you can not change that ...
The harm you cause is that you brain wash ... if we were never told of your beiliefs than we would believe in what we could see rather than a "dream" or "hope" that is a false one at that .... rather than allowing children or unknowing people to make those choices for them selves christians all do the same thing .. they preach that god is good blah blah and if you do not take him in your heart follow his ways blah blah you are a sinner and will die and burn in hell that is FACT ...
Also a scare tactic ... and BRAINWASH ...
I do not love myself only I believe in "harm none and do as ye will" wicca reed and fact is it teaches use your own mind and love everything so please ... ur religion is about self love not mine !!

There is nothing wrong with not believing in God. What matters is how you live your life. Some people need a God to inspire them. Others need God to explain things and Others don't need a God. Your beliefs should be your own. As long as your happy in your life and not hurting others you're fine. If you are a participating member of society and have many friends, then your better than most As for life after you die. Most Gods have conditions on that and not everyone gets life after death so that not an advantage.

Wow boy are you wrong. I dont know where to start with that huge load of dump. The opening statement would "you rather have people free to kill, steal, commit adultery and hate.." implies that is an alternative. Well bud hate to break it to you but looks like YOUR god has that covered already. Oh you have some sort of magical power that allows you to see what the world would be like without christians? Hey I have an idea better than that, its called research. Yes research the history of christianity and wars, and murders and then get back to us on that one. Your harm is that you are deceitful and full of...you finish that sentence. No you preach God because you think thats what God told you to do. You think. We preach against him because we believe that humans are indeed strong enough to survive on their own. In all reality we have a greater love for the human kind because if god was indeed true and knowing what i know about getting into heaven..id just keep my damn mouth shut. now...

what is wrong in believing in God?..(Whats wrong in believing in thor, zeus, allah, fsm....they dont exist.)

But as sovereign Lord of the Universe, he can do what he wishes. Just remember: as omnipotent caretaker of eternity, he is solely responsible for the suffering and evil which any of his creation suffers. Any God who doesn’t fix the problems he allowed to occur is a deadbeat. Either God does not exist, or he is not worthy of our worship.

So the only thing keeping you from killing, stealing, committing adultery, and hating is that you would expect God to punish you for doing them?

It sounds to me like you already do hate everyone else, because if you didn't, you wouldn't need a belief in God to prevent you from killing them or stealing from them.

Since your claim that God prevents you from hating people has just been disproved, I don't really trust your belief to prevent you from doing the other things, either. Those acts have happened countless times in the Bible, Torah, and Koran, and religious zealots always find easy justification for them.

That is the problem with your belief in God. You can use it to justify anything you want instead of actually thinking about how its consequences affect others.

You claim that religion gives the world morality, but it really doesn't. True morality is based on logic and empathy, not the mythology of our simian ancestors.

I am Agnostic and I do CARE so for anyone who says I could care less... you are wrong!

I don't mind if someone wants to believe with all certainty in their heads that a God exist really really for sure or that God definitely does not exist and could never exist, however... most of the dominate religions practically require their believers to go out and try to persuade others to their line of thinking.

And what is the fairness that something which cannot be proven 100% something a religion that could for all intents and purpose be completely wrong... how is it fair that some adults get to tell these fairy tales to children before they have developed the cognitive abilities to rationalize for themselves? These kids are told that they will suffer excruciating pain for not believing as they have been told as youngsters.

What if most religions cause such pent up internal guilt in people that it actually makes most who could normally be taught to be moral... it makes them boil with such internal turmoil and causes many of the symptoms we consider sins.

Not to mention what the others have pointed out about wars, robberies etc most are people who were raised in the primary religions.

A. God is impractical. It just doesn't make sense. I could list the reasons, but I don't think that's what you want to know with your question.

B. How dare you assume I need a deity to have morals. I have morals because they are in my best interest. Try studying ethics and you will find that almost none of it relates to religion. It relates to people interacting peacefully with each other.

C. I don't preach against God. If someone wants to believe, yay for them. I start complaining when they start preaching to me.

D. I love others more than I love myself. I only want people to do what is best for them. Don't start generalizing.

"Would you rather have people free to kill, to steal, to commit adultery, to hate?"

That is exactly what Muslims, Christians and Jews have been doing for the last couple of Millennia or so.

And the Persians, Assyrians and Romans did that before.

All of which were believers of some or many types of deities, including the fashionable "Yahweh" AKA "Allah".

People like you are the main reason why believing in God is totally WRONG:
