If you want the best then

United Kingdom. Only 179000 active personnel ( 102000 Army, 41000 RAF and 36000 Royal Navy ) Worlds 2nd most powerful navy with the 2nd best power projection ability. Top 3 best pilots on earth in the RAF. Worlds most elite and best trained soldiers. No other country comes anywhere near the quality of soldier in Britain

Russia. Massive army, huge armoured divisions, huge airforce and a good navy. Have a tendency to fight to the death

China. Worlds biggest army. They have a large airforce but no real power projection

Isreal. Highly trained army, well equiped. Airforce is good but have no Navy so no power projection outside middle east

France. Decent size army, well trained, good number of tanks. Airforce is a force to be reckond with. Very good Navy with good power projection. Probably 3rd or 4th in that area.

India. Massive army. Airforce is large and well trained and building up there Navy.

Germany. Have a history of a superb military and it hasnt changed. Army is in top 5 in ability and training, airforce is not bad but small and the Navy is quite high tech in some areas.

Canada. Small but highly effective army. British heritage means worlds best training, involved in many military operations. Airforce and Navy capable in there own right. Even though Americans may disagree the Candians are a force to be reckond with

Austrailia. Same as Canada. Training is superb. Small but highly effective

North Korea. Most would put them higher but i dont think they could beat any of the above in a war without attepting a nuclear strike. Most of the army attepts to escape from the countrys communist grip so they have no heart in fighting.

Thats if you want in terms of ability, not size. Its alot differnt in terms of size and some real sh!t countries have huge armies but they aint going to beat the Isle of Man in a war.
