DNA testing and cloning are two very different things.

Most Christians I know have no concern about DNA testing. However, doing research for cloning is a very different story.

I recall on the first Jurassic Park, Jeff Goldblum's character brought up the point that is applicable here. They were so enamored with the thought that they could do the research and the reproduction, they never stopped to ask the question whether they SHOULD do the research. And as a result, the testing developed dangerous animals that they could no longer control and there were some bad repercussions from this result.

Sometimes technology is a very good thing, but if it is used for wrong purposes, how do you determine whether we SHOULD continue down the path and where do you draw the line?

I think that is the key question as a Christian that concerns me with this rush into technology progress. Just because we CAN do something, we need to stop and figure out whether it is the right thing to do.

Sure, DNA is essential for life to exist and can only be produced by life. How, when no life existed, did DNA come into existence?

A few years ago there was a Time magazine article titled "Mother Eve". DNA samplings were taken of a cross section of women worldwide from all major ethnic classification. The test showed the DNA characteristics of ALL the women tested went back to ONE single woman!

Carbon dating has been demonstrated to be flawed. Carbon dating technicians are being forced to construct more and more complex time lines to accommodate various natural phenomena that impacted the carbon ratios in organic matter.

DNA testing is in its infancy.

Neither of these have to do with religion at all. I can see the connection in the sciences (though that's where the connection ends--DNA and carbon dating have nothing to do with each other, either), but I can't see any connection to Chritianity or why you're worried about it.

Whenever science is used to refute religion, scientists are stepping into the world of fallacy and deserve the embarrassment they get. The value of science is restricted to science. It should never be used to determine philosophical problems.

I'm a Christian and I don't believe in carbon dating because it's not ACCURATE. It has nothing to do with my Christian beliefs. It has to do with believing TRUTH.

I haven't heard anything about DNA testing not being accurate, so I'd have no problem with that.

Carbon dating has flaws. It assumes that the level of C14 to C12 has been the same forever. However, if the ozone layer is giving like scientists say, then it's changing.

DNA testing, has no visible problems.

Unbelievable as it may seem, Christians don't turn their brains off to believe what they believe. Try reading the Bible. It will surprise you. In any case, try to learn how to spell.
