Does baking soda and peroxide brighten your teeth up ... If does, why don't dentist tell us ?

I disagree with all of the answers above especially that using these products can lighten your teeth a shade or two! That is quite a bit. Baking soda certainly will not weaken your teeth, nor will hydrogen peroxide. There is no "great secret" that dentists are not telling you. It is not a conspiracy, really. These products are more likely to remove what are called extrinsic (external) stains (coffee, tea, tobacco) so the illusion is that your teeth have whitened. To whiten your teeth, I would suggest Crest Whitestrips. Research has shown that if they are used properly, your results will be just about the same as what you will get with a professional whitening with a dentist. It is safe and effective.
