Ban the Deed, not the breed. There is a ton of research you can do to help you with this project. I did a similar project about pit bulls for my first english class in college. If you have questions you can email me.
I love this video, it would be nice if you could encorporate this in your project, or a similar video, there are a ton of them out there:

Unfortunately, there are still some pit bulls that are bred and raised for dog fighting - a barbaric blood-sport that is gaining popularity across the country. These animals are trained to have vicious dog aggression and to literally fight to the death in arenas called pits. Smaller dogs are often used as "bait" and are ripped apart in training by the fighting dogs that have been driven into a fighting frenzy. As part of strength conditioning, young pit bull puppies commonly have tires chained around their necks and are forced to run chained behind moving vehicles. To condition their jaws for fighting, they are often forced to hang by their teeth from tree branches or rafters knowing that if they let go, they will fall far to the ground. Some sadistic owners will callously punish the losing dogs in horrific ways such as dowsing them in gasoline and setting their paws on fire, running them behind cars until they collapse from exhaustion and are dragged to death, and even throwing them from rooftops like old garbage that is no longer useful or wanted, like our poor Gracie was.
Terrible things are done to pit bulls every day. Things that are too gruesome and heartbreaking to relate here, but you should know that they are happening. Contrary to popular opinion, pit bulls are not the problem; they are merely the result of abusive cruelty and owner irresponsibility. The real problem lies in the mind-set of the people who raise them to be vicious.
North Shore Animal League America believes that by educating children of all ages to care about animals and give value to all life, we can stop the terrible mistreatment of pit bulls and so many other animals that are misunderstood, tortured and abused every day.
Please support the League's efforts to bring animal awareness into the hearts of children of every age, and put a stop to the abuse and suffering of pit bulls and countless other mistreated and misunderstood animals.
Make a donation to "Gracie's Fund" today and help us put an end to animal cruelty.

I have a few ideas i think would help......i have alot of pitbull stuff on my myspace so i hope they help....judge the deed not the breed & pitbull -worlds most misunderstood dog. Pitbulls need our help, not our hate. also i have pictures that help. one has a pic of someone hugging a pit it says - I'm sorry you will never get to meet me, I'm sorry you can only judge me from afar. most of all, im sorry that i might have to leave my mommy heartbroken because you say i cant stay....i'm sorry all i ever did was love. another is a pic of a little girl sleeping on top of a pit bull it says - i'd do anything for my little girl. please dont take me from her! one is a pic of a pit laying on a floor it says -sorry i was born. another pic is of a newborn puppy it says - im so sorry. please forgive me? another pic is of a pit looking outside it says -why do they hate me? another pic is of a pit laying on a couch it says - no one ever told me I was a bad dog. theres a pic of a cute puppy that says -im sorry you will be afraid of me in a couple of months. then there is a puppy in a bathtub that says -why kill me? i didnt do it. theres another of a dog just sitting it says- im sorry you think i should have never lived. and the most emotional one i have is a picture of a pit with something all over its face...it looks like a porcipine and it says- it was a human i loved that let me end up like this....then anothe pic of the dog healthy and happy that says ...and a stranger that gave me a second chance. I'm sorry you dont think I deserve it. I think if you can find these pics or make your own like this it will really work. one last thing i can give you is.....The Top Ten Reasons Why You Can't Trust Vicious Pit Bulls 10. They will steal your spot on the couch while you are up getting a soda. 9. They will take the treat you give them and bury in the back yard like a paranoid crack head hiding their stash. 8. They will jump on your bed with muddy feet. Making you do laundry...again 7. They will lick visitors with an uncontrolled passion only they understand. 6. They will cause children to smile. 5. They will make you feel horrible for not walking them by looking at you with deep sad eyes. 4. They will look at you like you committed a crime against them if you don't let them lick your ice cream bowl. 3. They will cause wide spread happiness in large group settings. 2. They will crack you up by shaking their butts so hard you think they are going to snap in half. And the number one reason why you can't trust vicious Pit Bulls... 1. They will steal your heart like a thief in the night, showing you complete and pure love that only a Pit Bull can show. i hope this helps. good luck

Go to my 360 page got all kinds of stuff there
Prayer of a Pit bull
Spirit in the sky, who watches over all animals:
It is my prayer and my request that you grant greater understanding,
and acceptance to humans;
those who love us, and those who hate us.
That they will know how loyal we are, how brave we are,
and how loving we are. Help them to accept us as a breed in whole, and not let the few tragedies shine brighter than the many great traits that we have. And those who would kill me,
let them know, I forgive them, even though I don't understand their hatred. And those who would beat me, let them know I still love them, even though it is not the honorable way.
Thank you for all the strong traits that you have given to me,
and my breed. Help those to know that I stand for
courage, strength, loyalty, and bravery.
And as my master already knows, let those who would come against my family know that I would surely die defending them.
And just one last thing that I would ask:
Let my master know, that if you should call me away,
that I will wait patiently at those pearly gates
until the one who chose me,
comes home.
Amen.

for your project you should educate people that pit bulls are not bad,,, if bred properly from experienced breeders who put a lot of time and effort into choosing the correct dogs to be bred..... temperament is a genetic trait in dogs.. and to ignore the temperament traits when breeding should be a crime

Its not about the breed it is how they are raised by their owner. Pitts are the oned who have to most patience with kids they are also the most loyal friend a person can have.
