Since people at work found out i was upset because my boyfriend had strung me along and is now with another co-worker,everyone has been staring at me and people who have never said hi before are saying hi now,why?

Because they think that you might be feeling a little down right now, so they are being nice to you to lend you their support.
You must be the kind of person that people want to care about.

it could be any one or a combination of all of these:
1. They have interests in you and now you're available they want to be the first to make a move
2. They have gone through a similar experience and have simpathy
3. They are just trying to be nice to you during your time of need
4. They really aren't acting different, it's just that your perception of them has changed

They either for sorry for you, or they felt like they couldn't talk to you before.. maybe you were kind of anti-social and only talked to your b/f, and now that he's not there they feel like they can talk to you... but it's probably that they sympathize with you.

Because they feel bad for you, sympathic, maybe it's happen to them before and they can sort of relate to how you feel.

they think you are one of those crazy ex's that will flip out and shoot up the place...in hopes to not die they are saying hi to you in hopes that in your shooting rampage you will find them hiding under their desks and just look and say "thanks for the greeting" as you continue to fire upon anyone who didnt speak or looks at you funny
