Here are some ideas that may help:
1. Have a bake sale outside your home.
2. Take orders for a plate of food and deliver the food on a Friday.
3. Make arts and crafts and sell them.
4. Have a garage sale.
5. Hold a car wash and have the kids participate in washing and drying cars.
6. You can always ask a local church or organization to see if they can offer help to your family by holding a bingo game or dance and have the proceeds go to you.

She could care for a few other children, if she has skills such as data entry she may try finding a company that allows you to do data entry from home. Even if she doesn't want to watch other children full time, she could be a back up sitter for other at home day cares and only take children when there regular sitter is unable too. Perhaps starting a laundry service where people could drop their laundry and she could wash and fold it for a certain amount of money. Ironing could be extra dollars.
