Yes, they cry and whine - in an odd and unique way.

Yes, Siamese have the most unique/peculiar sound in the entire feline population - I ought to know! Their sounds can go from a very vocal deep 'moan' to a whining howl capable of being heard for miles! ... well, almost!!!

The most interesting fact I have found, as a Siamese owner for 30yrs, is the variation of sounds and cries between different colours. My first Siamese, a seal-point, had an extremely loud and bellowing call. He could almost bring this down to the most comical utterances which sounded more human than feline. He would 'shout' back at us (if repremanded) and stamp off in a 'wailing moody' if he lost his cool. My present Siamese, on the other hand, is a lilac-point and his 'call' is quite different. Although fairly loud, he's far more restrained when 'letting rip' vocally. His voice is lighter and his 'conversation' more easy to decipher. He talks back at us in a bad temper at times. He 'demands' in a tone which is truly authoritive and, when he 'throws a moody', it sounds more like a stroppy child than just a stroppy cat!

Oh yes, where would we be without our vocal Siamese? ... Don't say it ... In a state of calm!!!

Best whiskers, Mozey

Hi, I have a siamese cat, they are well known for 'talking' all the time, sometimes they sound like their in distress but the just have a set of lungs on em, I can here mine calling to get bk in through the double glazing from upstairs into the garden. They are also more likely to be able to open doors and figure things out

no, it's not you. all Siamese are very vocal, and have a very distinct sounding voice. My grandmother had Siamese when I was a kid, and over the years I've had four of them (I still have one). they also have very different personalities as well. we have several different breeds in our house, but Siamese are my favorite.

I was born a siamese twin (seriously - joined at the hip by a boney growth) and I think that both my twin and I sound like perfectly normal English girls.
