That might work, or try taking him on more rides, even start with just driving around the block, and then gradually go further each day. It may be a long process, and a lot of patience but it works. We did that with our dog and now she loves the car. Even bring something familiar along for the ride, like a toy that she plays with a lot or a blanket she lays on, anything to make her comfortable. Good Luck

If you want to clean up his dinner later, then you can give him his supper in the car. It just takes time for a dog to get used to the car. Our dog was full of anxiety the first few times however now she sleeps in the car and watches other people drive past. We go on at least a 2 hour trip every few months. As for the hatchback, try getting a board or stairs for the dog to climb up. Sometimes they just don't like the climb into the car. Talk to him throughout the drive and let him know he is being good. Plus, remember to give him toys in the hatchback location so he doesn't get bored. He might just feel lonely back there by himself. Talking always helps a dog. Good Luck! Hope this has helped out.

the way I got my dog use to the car (SUV) was by allowing her to sit in it while I did yard work. I started with the gate open for a while. Then with the gate shut, but the glass section opened. Next closing the glass. Then I drive around the block. Then twice around the block. I think you should get the picture. Small steps.
You may wanna try leaving a hard chew toy during the process to help the dog relax in this environment.
The food was something I couldn't do because my dog would throw-up and crap during the ride.

i would say try just sittin your dog in the boot while the car is stationary for the first few times then gradually build up from there just make the journeys longer every time and give him lots of praise after only if he is settled in the car also try putting his blanket and fav toy in the boot with him as this might also help relax him a bit
good luck

feed it is one idea also try throwing its favorite toy in there and once it is in the care give it a treat and let him out of the car. do this several times each time for a longer time and close the door. then start the car and turn it off each time make it a little longer just keep advance the time on each thing. then move the car.

Yes dogs and generally all animals associate food with rewards. If you reward your dog inside the car he will like the car more because he being rewarded for bing in the car. However, you might not want to do that to much because he'll start jumping in the car, and it will be harder to get him out of the car once he's in, if you do it to much.

why, you the hack youre having dinner in youre own car with the dog ? are you poor person living in a car must be not have a real place to sleep in or either a place to have dinner at. well most dogs doesnt like beingin the car cause will make the dog have car sick if youre keep feeding it . if you hate beingin the one who does feedding the dog in back of the seat then i will just get a dog kennel cage with water and foods when the dog is inside of it instead you keep feeding the dog when youre just driving on the road .

yes, why not - he might see it as an OK place then. And take him for short trips, talking to him reassuringly and to nice, fun places will help too, so he sees it as a magic box you get in, then get out of and have a great time. :o))
Not just a one-way tardis to the vet :o((
