should I join the army? I mean my dad says I need a scholarship, that he's not paying for my collage cause he's paying for my other sisters admissions. And that I'm being kicked out as soon as a turn 18, and I dont have anywere to go. I am a girl so I'm not suppose to be placed in direct gun fire (or at least not intentionaly) idk what to do!!!

I am active duty military, and have 20 years in next month. The military can be a great life, it has many rewards, good training, good pay, good travel opportunities, a great retirement plan. The benefits seem to get better every year. Did I mention free health care? All that being said it is not a piece of cake. It takes a lot of determination to be a Soldier and a lot of discipline. What other job requires you to be physically fit and be tested every 6 months to prove you are? You must meet height and weight requirements and pass a physical fitness test. The Army trains you to do this though, but a lot of times you will be required to accomplish this on your own, that's where the discipline comes in. The new Soldiers that enlist today seem to have no discipline, I am sure when I enlisted that the older Soldiers said the same thing about my generation of Soldiers. Joining the military because you are getting kicked out of the house is not the best reason. You should join the military because you want to serve your country, you want to make something out of your life, you want your family and friends to be proud of you, they will. You family and friends will brag about you all the time. Join for the right reasons, but enjoy the benefits the the military can provide. Good luck in whatever you do. Oh, and tell your dad that active duty military can go to college for free while they are active duty, on your off time of course, and that the GI Bill will pay for college when you decide to leave the military.

geez what kind of father is that? He shouldn't even kick out his daughter just to be replaced by your sister's bf. What the heck is that. What the heck is his problem? does he love his own daughter or does he love your sister's bf more. Geez. Anyways, if you want to join the service, go join the air force. excel in your studies and study hard. If you get good grades and high marks, you can either become an officer or some sort of engineer. There are many jobs in the air force. Study to be at least a engineer or servicing aircrafts if you do not want to go into combat. Study really hard and excelling in your school work in air force can help you land a job in Washington DC as a military adviser or a job that requires brains. Your knowledge can really pay off and you can make a lot too. The more smarter you are, the more money you make. Maybe you don't even have to help your father anymore and live on your on without his money.

Yes, the military (including the Army) provides a financially secure opportunity for a single adult. Salary, room, board, benefits, etc.
However, it is not a civilian job and comes with all of those benefits for a reason.
You are committing to kill or be killed (male or female) for the mission if it comes to that. Will it likely come to that? No. But it is part of the deal.
It can be a great growth experience, but make sure that you are doing it for the right reasons.
You may want to consider other branches and choose based on your interests and what they offer.
Other branches don't have as much money for school as the Army does, but if you went on active duty for a few years you could put money away for school, get set up with the full GI bill, etc.

If you want to join the army then join. There is a lot of ways to participate in the armed forces and you are helping our country.
But only join if thats what you want to do. I'm sure you can find a way to live your life the way that you want to. Finical aid and loans are a great way to go to college for little cost. Even if that does work out you still can find a job for a while and save up. Don't give up hope

Well don't join just for the sake of,having a place to go.Join because you feel this is something your interested in, and known this is something your going to like. Sure your have a place to live and your getting paid, and if you go about it the right way you can go to places that some can only dream about. With in the U.S and over seas, sign up do your time and if its what you enjoy you can always reenlist.....But first of go and talk to a Army recruiter and find out what they have to offer "YOU" and what your intersted in and what you would like to do while in the Army.
Dont forget if 6 months in to this your feel this isnt for you, you can just up and leave....Check out the Navy or the Air Force to while your there. Best of Luck to you.....

Only join the military if you're that brave, and that dedicated to the cause. And maybe they won't let you join, anyway.
The military has a lot to offer, but you gotta be the right kind of person. I know I wouldn't be able to hack it. Lots of people can't.
Anyway, lots of people are kinda poor when they're young. You just gotta get through it. It's hard, but it's just the way it is.

if you need to ask that question then you probably shouldnt.
thats between you and yourself and no one else.
just remember, it becomes a committment that you can never question or refuse - and if you do, a dis-honorable discharge follows you to your grave and you will lose many opportunities because of it. on the good side you likely wont get killed, and you get to travel and some pretty damn good training.
it's your choice - and if you have to ask, then ask yourself do i have the fortitude to follow through
